It seems Miley Cyrus is making her way back in the controversial limelight after making fun of fellow teen Disney sensations on YouTube. Is it a case of girls will be girls or a fight for the number one spot in America's hearts.
For those who are Hannah Montana Fans, you might remember the episode when Hannah argues with actress Selena Gomez (known as the hit star from The Wizards of Waverly Place) to be crowned top pop sensation. Well the fictional program may becoming a little to close for comfort for Cyrus.
Cyrus and best friend/dancer Mandy Jiroux decided to make a video making fun of Gomez and Camp Rock star, Demi Lovato.
The video is demeaning and just shows how immature Cyrus really is when it comes to allowing things to become public and acting like a spoiled brat. I know this may seem harsh, but I have always been a supportive fan.
With the pressures of today on teenage girls, we need role models that will be willing to step forward and not be "the mean girls." We need girl role models that will show other teens that it is ok to be cordial or respectful to each other.
I have to admit I was disappointed in Cyrus when I saw the video. I realize she is young and will make mistakes, but seriously making fun of other colleagues is not appropriate at any time. Does she have any guardianship? This does comes on the heels of some racy Vanity Fair photos mishap.
Today's technology is allowing stars to be shown in a whole new light these days. They need to take the responsibility for this new technology and not be willing to make teen mistakes available for all to see. Do we not remember Vanessa Hudgens nude photos? Does Disney need to hire person manner and grooming coaches for all the hot stars?
As for this mishap, Cyrus needs help explaining herself out of this issue. "I mean if we offended (Gomez and Lovato), we're super sorry, but we were, like, just having fun," Cyrus said in an interview with Popstar! magazine.
She then goes on to say, "That's our thing, to be funny," she said. "They were being funny on their show, and (besides) Elvis says imitation is the greatest form of flattery, so we were, like, imitating them. You know, like, being funny."
It is this mentality that it is fun to make fun at other teen girls that really needs to stop. There have been rumors that Gomez and Lovato have been replacing Cyrus in the public eye as "wholesome" role models.
Still, the "Hannah Montana" star told "Extra" that "I don't think there could be a next Miley. I think they should be the next Selena, the next Demi ... [and] make their own way." Cyrus, I think you just let them take your place by stooping down to make fun of others. Here is the video for those who have not seen it.
