Part of the fun of summer is wearing the season's new colors in clothing and jewelry. Summer 2008 is no exception. This season's jewelry trends perfectly complement summer's exciting hot picks in clothing wear.

Anything blue makes both a bold and cool statement this summer. Blue topaz and aquamarine are hot trends for the season, as well as beaded necklaces, turquoise bracelets, and blue sapphire rings. The versatility of blue jewelry allows it to be matched with neutrals, black, and more colorful fashions. Fashionistas will also find blue jade, moonstones, lapis lazuli a charming choice.

A fun alternative to diamonds, cubic zirconia is combined beautifully with sterling silver, creating the look of white gold or platinum. Zirconia and sterling silver lend a sophisticated look that can be instantly dressed up or down. Paired with a pretty sun dress or a white polo, the look is nouveau riche without busting the budget. Sterling silver continues to make its mark for those who want to achieve a special look and it's much more affordable than gold or platinum.

This is the year for celestially-inspired jewelry with multi-chain necklaces and bracelets adorned with moon and stars charms. For something really unique, consider a crescent moon-shaped necklace for a look that's all "goddess". In addition, zodiac pendants in gold, silver and even diamonds are a popular choice.

Greek- and Latin-inspired jewelry will carry through summer into fall fashions as well. Choose from black onyx, black diamonds or classic black pearls for a look that is always in style. Think layers when choosing jewelry and look for necklaces and bracelets with unusual small shapes paired over larger pieces of silver, copper or gold.  Drawing inspiration from the Italian classics, combinations of gold and black find their way into oversized links and chains. Enameled bracelets and necklaces are another fashionable choice.

For a more modern look, choose from plastic and enamel bangles in bright solid colors and safari prints, as well as bold shapes. The style gives a boost to everyday wear and is a fun and budget-conscious choice. Colors come in fuchsia, purple, turquoise, yellow, black, white, and every other imaginable color.

Safari and tribal jewelry are also making exotic statements during the summer of 2008. Tribal styles draw inspiration from Native America Indian, East India and ancient Mayan cultures. Especially attractive with this season's fashions, jewelry wearers can choose from turquoise, coral, resin and other beaded pieces. Wooden bangles, animal-print bracelets, and amber necklaces are some of the hottest trends in 2008 jewelry. The style is great for both casual and formal wear. Another exotic look can be achieved with this season's layered tropical necklaces in reds, turquoise, and purples in varying shapes of beads.

When selecting charms and pendants, color is key for the summer of 2008. Bright and bold bead jewelry makes a dramatic statement. Choose a beautiful chain adorned with a large pendant or gemstone charm in energizing reds or eco-friendly greens.

Since summer is a favorite season for brides, jewelry with traditional heart pendants in titanium and diamonds are in vogue. The price and look of titanium makes a popular choice for many brides. The cool tones of titanium and tungsten jewelry create a charming touch for the bride on her special day. For the bridegroom, tungsten carbide watches, and tungsten and titanium rings provide a bold and classic look. Brides are also free to express their individuality with splashes of color in their bridal jewelry. Think blue, fuchsia, red or green, which are great choices for the bridesmaids. Bouquet jewelry is also a stunning trend that features crystals or crystal letters in the wedding bouquet or in wedding centerpieces.
