The human body is subject to wear and tear everyday. When we are young our body has the capacity to rejuvenate quickly, but as we grow older, our body cells start deteriorating which, thereby, leads to ill health. The seen-and-felt symptoms of aging are graying hair, an increase in the body fat, a decrease in the bone density, a decrease in the muscle mass, loss of teeth, wrinkling of skin, etc.

Some of these symptoms are external and clearly obvious. However some of them are unobvious and remain unseen. There are two widely accepted theories regarding aging. The first one suggests that aging occurs due to the oxidation reactions taking place in our body. Just as iron rusts due to oxidation, our body also ages by the same process known as cellular oxidation. Another theory suggests that, as we grow older, the hormone levels in our body tend to decline and leads to aging. Both of these theories are correct from varying perspectives. The question we must answer is what is it that we can do to stop the aging process?

The best way to stop aging, although not completely, is to eat healthy and exercise regularly. Eat foods that contain anti oxidants, phytochemicals, etc... Flavonoids and carotenoids are types of phytochemicals found in fruits and colored vegetables. It is known that excess calorie consumption may lead to high cholesterol, which has also been related to the aging process. In addition, if you operate under a lot of stress you and tend to look haggard and tired all the time you may want to find a way to, through meditation or relaxation exercises, de-stress yourself completely. One way or another you need to learn how to deal with stress so that it does not take a toll on your body. Diabetes also leads to early aging so try not to fall prey to it.

There is a wide variety of dietary supplements that on the market that are instrumental in the prevention of aging. These supplements come in the form of anti aging pills or tonics. But do consider them as a secondary resort. Being that "wrinkling of skin" is a sign of aging, there are numerous lotions and creams that are available on the market and are helpful in dealing with aging of the skin. They seldom have a dramatic impact but they can be beneficial. Also, there are numerous herbal tonics and pills that are available as well that help prevent graying that work to varying degrees. Some people also resort to genetic modifications to stop aging. Although it is not possible to genetically stop aging, attempting to do so may cause harm. The human growth hormone is a genetically made hormone that prevents aging, to a degree, in humans by increasing levels to an earlier stage of life level. This hormone has shown effective in reversing the process of aging, to a degree, by the resulting reduction of body fat, increase in the muscle mass, an improved energy levels.

Its application perpetuates the stimulation of the liver to produce hormones, which are effective for anti aging. Since this is contrary to nature, people who resort to this may be at a risk of adverse consequences such as cancer. It is, therefore, recommended that we not take any drastic measures to stop aging. Attempt to remain stress free, eat healthy, and exercise in the pursuit of staying young.
