British teenagers seem to be caught in a viscous circle of violence. A recent report released by the Freedom of Information act in the UK shows that the number of young offenders being dealt with by police and the courts has risen by more than 25% in the last six years.

In some areas of England and Wales, the number of under-18s being handled by the criminal justice system has nearly doubled in the same period. Figures gathered under the Freedom of Information Act showed a 27% increase in the number of children and youths convicted or cautioned.

London in particular has seen a massive rise in youth crime especially knife related incidents. The capital has seen 21 violent deaths to teenagers this year alone the majority of them stabbings. The Metropolitan Police Commissioner and the Mayor of London are urging the public to do more to counter knife crime. Recently, the force announced that 26,777 stop and searches were carried out and over 500 weapons recovered during Operation Blunt Two, an operation that led to 1,214 arrests.

With the increase in violent, unprovoked assaults taking place around the country and the massive increase in youth crime (the principal protagonists in this type of crime) now is the time to consider protecting yourself or loved ones by carrying a personal alarm.

It is obvious that although the Government and the Police Force are bringing out initiatives to help reduce the threat of stabbings and violent attacks on our streets the message is not being heard where it matters most. Personal Alarms are a positive step in self-protection and can emit such an ear-piercing sound that most attackers either will turn and flee or become rooted to the spot allowing you some valuable time to make that escape.

It is unfortunate that people need to help protect themselves as the powers-that-be struggle to contain the ever-growing epidemic of knife crime that is present with the younger generation.

Crime Prevention Products offers a large selection of personal alarms and also home security products to help protect your home and your loved ones.
