If there were a poll to be taken, I bet everyone can name at least one person who came into their life, and helped them at their most difficult times. Someone who added to our lives, who took the time to share their knowledge with us. Who nursed us back to health, mentally, physically, and spiritually. Someone who didn't leave us, but stuck by and made sure we were strong again before they left. A mentor, a caregiver, a friend, a confidante, a wisdom seeker. Someone who may have gone through similar circumstances such as ourselves, and can relate to what we are feeling and going through. A Blessing to us, a gift, almost as if God Himself made sure the two of us would meet. Through my experiences, it's more a definite than an almost.
I have a wonderful woman doctor who saved my life. I consider her one of those sent by God to intervene in my life at the appropriate times. I have a partner whom I believe God decided to reconnect me with, at a time I desperately needed his feedback and help. There are authors that will never know how their words affected my ears, and penetrated my soul to the point of adding or changing my thoughts to a more beneficial way. It always "happened" that I would hear about a book, or be drawn to one in a bookstore, and it contained exactly the right material I needed at the moment. There were times I had been trying to work something out, and someone would come on TV, talking about the same subject, bringing me a better prospective.
I was feeling ill, and approaching the biggest event of my life, unbeknownst to me, when a friend introduced me to a woman reflexologist who helped me immensely. Not only did the procedure of the massage help, her wisdom and support and care brought me through some very difficult times. When the tornado hit, I didn't fall as low as I could have at one time. I know she helped, I was starting to feel human again when I had to stop going for financial reasons, and my auto immune disease is now acting up from the stress of the impact of what I am going through. I still have her on email to mentor me and help me through when I get stuck.
She is the one who told me to taking a writing class online, which I did, and to try and write for magazines. I couldn't come up with any that you buy, so I went on line and found this site. There have been several people who have touched my life in a caring, and interesting way since I joined. People who actually care about me and the problems that come up in my life. I feel the same way about them. We can listen to each other, talk to each other, pray for each other, and have a sounding board when we need one. That's so important. Everything is connected. I think the energy one is born with, knows who to attract and who to dispel, but can make the wrong choices anyway, sometimes.
This can cause a great deal of hurt and pain. Sometimes, we need more knowledge on how to think, act, react, and deal with our feelings and emotions. To have people in our lives who can help us do that, is a gift. I have a friend God sent to me twenty five years ago, and I feel like we are kindred spirits, even though we don't always think along the same lines. Our caring can be felt over the internet, through the towns between us, and right into our hearts and minds. This blanket of warmth comes, I believe, because God made sure our paths crossed for a reason.
We all need help to get through this world. Some of us may need more than others, but it is our destiny to help those people when we can. If we can e mail and stay in touch with others, and keep current with their lives, and them with ours, it is worth the time and thought. It makes both parties feel better, and it strengthens the positive energy floating through the air. That energy radiates and adds glory and happiness to the world. Sending a friend a beautiful picture, or e mailing someone pictures, or pouring your heart out to someone on the internet, or listening to someone pour their heart out to you, we can emit a Light that may begin to heal this world.
So, yes, I do believe people come into our lives for a reason. Nothing is random. God is kind, and sends us these treasures to help us get through life, with all it's ups and downs, ins and outs, sadness and hope, happiness and defeat. Being so Blessed, I believe we should be more than appreciative, and take the knowledge we can from those who mean something special to us, and give it back just as readily.
Hey Sue. I know what you mean. I have a couple friends like that, whether you last talked yesterday or you haven't see them for a few months, you just pick up right where you left off. When one of us contacts the other, it is like no time has passed. Those friendships are a special blessing. Thanks for that reminder.
i talk to her by e mail, but at the time 4 years ago, i hadn't been in touch for about 4 years, and i needed to talk, so i called and she met me at the mall and we talked.
some people are very special in our lives, and we need to recognize that gift,
Hi Sue, I agree wholeheartedly. Friendships are a treasure--a bouquet of roses to us from God. And you are one to me. Thank you for reminding me not to take my friendships for granted. But also to be aware of the passersby that just might give the smile we need if we took the time to look. love ya, t
Hi Sue! Thanks for another great one! As you know, our move has been filled with much mixed-emotion and this weekend, God so clearly showed me His ways through our neighbors which I see wonderful friendships in development. No man is an island and as Teresa stated, "friendships are a treasure" and so are you -- Speaking of friendships, once Laura is settled in school, I will give my Jersey friend a call! You are a diamond, Miss Sue!
Excellent article Sue! Thank you for reminding us how those special friends are priceless. I do have a few that I can call everyday or whenever and they are still the friend they always were. Isn't it wonderful that God puts people in our lives that are special?
