In November of 1968 Elvis released a hit song titled "If I can dream"

Elvis would sing "If I Can Dream" from his heart. Yet, the band-related errors prevented the first take from becoming the master. It was one of his dearest songs.

"Elvis - TV Special". It was then first released as single - If I Can Dream/Edge Of Reality - in November 1968. It peaked on Billboard's Hot 100 at #12 for 13 weeks, one million plus sales.

There must be lights burning brighter somewhere
Got to be birds flying higher in a sky more blue
If I can dream of a better land
Where all my brothers walk hand in hand
Tell me why, oh why, oh why cant my dream come true

There must be peace and understanding sometime
Strong winds of promise that will blow away
All the doubt and fear
If I can dream of a warmer sun
Where hope keeps shining on everyone
Tell me why, oh why, oh why wont that sun appear

Were lost in a cloud
With too much rain
Were trapped in a world
That's troubled with pain
But as long as a man
Has the strength to dream
He can redeem his soul and fly

Deep in my heart there's a trembling question
Still I am sure that the answer gonna come somehow
Out there in the dark, there's a beckoning candle
And while I can think, while I can talk
While I can stand, while I can walk
While I can dream, please let my dream
Come true, right now
Let it come true right now
Oh yeah

elvis is one of my favorites, as is his daughter, who sings a lot like him.
the words to this song are beautiful, and prevalent to these times as well. thanks for bringing them to us,
my best regards,
sue

Thank you Susan, yes the song does relate to our present times, but it was felt a lot more severely in the 60s.
