When most of us think about a fireplace, we think about one that is available within the house. The fact of the matter is, if you have never enjoyed having a fireplace outside, you are really missing something that can add to your home and your life. The reason why this is the case is because having an outdoor fireplace gives you an extra area to enjoy your home and it is an excellent place for you to spend time with family and friends, away from in front of the television set. There are plenty of outdoor fireplace designs that are available, one of which is sure to give you the outdoor environment that you are looking for.

One of the most popular of the outdoor fireplace designs is that which is made from stone. These can be very rustic looking and they often look good, even when the fire is not burning on the inside. One of the good things about Stone outdoor fireplace designs is that you do not need to worry quite so much about local code as you would if you were building one only inside of your home. Although you still need to look into the regulations for your local area, you will often find that they are more lax because he fireplace exist on the outside of the home.

Another thing that you may want to incorporate into any outdoor fireplace design that you're looking at is including a cooking area. Although you may not want to include this as the main part and focus of the fireplace, you would be surprised with how enjoyable it is to be able to cook in this kind of an outdoor environment. Not only that, anything that is cooked over a wood fire is going to take on a unique taste that is difficult to obtain in any other way. It is also possible for you to design the outdoor fireplace so that it is primarily used as a way of cooking food. Even so, make sure that you are able to enjoy the fireplace for the way that it looks along with the functions that it provides.

If you have an outdoor environment that would allow you to have a fireplace, you should really look into having one. Some of my most enjoyable memories of spending time with my family include sitting around our outdoor fireplace, enjoying some conversation and a little bit of time together without any distractions.
