Let's test your knowledge of VTPs, BGP attributes, and other important Cisco certification exam topics! Answers are at the bottom of the page. Enjoy!

CCNA Certification And CCENT Certification:

Identify the benefits of VTP.

A. Decreases amount of unnecessary broadcasts forwarded across a trunk

B. Dynamically bundles multiple trunks into one larger, logical trunk

C. Gives participating switches a like view of the network

D. Allows all switches to create and delete VLANs, regardless of mode

E. Allows admin to restrict which switches can and cannot delete VLANs

CCNP Certification / BSCI Exam:

What BGP attribute matches the following description?

"When BGP paths are aggregated (summarized), this well-known attribute indicates the router that performed the aggregation. This attribute gives notice to downstream routers that more-specific BGP routing information was lost at the point of aggregation."

CCNP Certification / BCMSN Exam:

What are the basic steps to totally erase the configuration of a Cisco 2950 switch?

CCNP / ONT Exam:

What is "Survivable Remote Site Telephony"? What exactly are we surviving, and how?

Here are the answers!

CCNA / CCENT: Answers: A, C, E. Answer "A" describes VTP trunking, which is not enabled by default but is a benefit of VTP.

"B" describes an Etherchannel. Answer "D" is incorrect since VTP Clients cannot create and delete VLANs.

BSCI: Answer: Well, you knew it had something to do with aggregation, right? That paragraph describes the atomic aggregate attribute.

BCMSN: Answer: Outside of running write erase, you also want to run delete vlan.dat to totally initialize the switch. If you just erase the switch config and then reload, the switch will retain its VLAN information since that is kept in the vlan.dat file.

ONT: Answer: SRST allows a Cisco router to take the place of an unavailable CallManager cluster. While the WAN is down, the connection to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) remains, and this allows the IP Phones at that remote site to function in the absence of the CallManager cluster.
