The SearchWarp.com staff spent the first part of this week at the Search Engine Strategies Conference and the Google Dance. We wandered around the conference expo hall, networked, got inspired and got free stuff: pens, bags, bouncy balls, notebooks, frisbees, even remote control cars. I am happy to report that our kids enjoyed all of the toys we brought home for them!

But the conference was just an appetizer of free stuff. The Google Dance was the main course, the dessert and the midnight snack! To paraphrase the great Ferris Bueller: if you have the means to attend a Google Dance, I highly recommend you attend one. They are so choice. At this point, I believe Google could orchestrate the overthrow of the US government and we would still look at them with puppy dog eyes.

It is with that lofty introduction that I give you the "things we learned at the Google Dance" list:

  • Google has incredibly high-tech toilets.

  • They also have screens with live searches crawling continuously.

  • Free candy, dinner and decorate-your-own-cupcake lines are extremely popular.

  • They can make those cool holographic-ish photos on the go now. You know, the ones where if you hold it one way it shows one picture and if you turn it a different way it shows another one.

  • Rock Band makes for good karaoke.

  • Google engineers are normal people, too.

  • Our great writers and readers are the reason we were lucky enough to be able to go.

  • And, we are suckers for free stuff!

And you will benefit, too. There are some exciting new things we're working on and some great ideas we came away from our trip with that we are looking forward to implement. Stay tuned and keep writing!
