Cold sores have to be one of the most annoying things you can have. You can make yourself and your appearance as good as possible but then you get a cold sore on your lip and it feels like this massive growth that draws everyones attention to it. As well as that, for something that is so small they are extremely sore and affect what you eat and drink.

Most of the time cold sores are brought on by some sort of infection or disease basis, but it is also shown that these painful little eye sores are also brought on by stress and anxiety where you are run down and your natural body defences are low.A deficiency in levels of calcium can also be partially associated to the propagation of cold sores, prompting an awareness in individuals to act supportively, as well as precautionary, in practicing measures towards home remedies for cold sores. Cold sores normally show up on the lips, but can also be found on the out skirts of the mouth and even around the nose. Due to the fact they are very painful they are very hard to treat and apply treatment to as well as being very contagious. For this reason it is best to isolate the infection by not sharing the same cups, glasses, plates and general utensils around the house that would come into contact with the mouth ans spread germs.

Another good idea is to keep the affected area well moistened, especially when living in warmer climates, when these affected areas dry up and crack they are very painful and can bleed quite alot before healing over again, so a good lip balm will stop the area from cracking if exposed to the elements.

There are many medical applications tou can buy nowadays to attack such infections like zivorax etc which you can apply at home and can attack the affected area while you are going about your everyday business.

Because of where these infections occur you can expect them to hang around for about 2 weeks, but if you can get treatment onto them as soon as possible that can be greatly reduced before the affected area does crack and therefore seem to last forever.

There are remedies that are alternative to the standard medicine such as applying ice. Ice will freeze the area and therefore calm the pain as well as stopping any swelling that might occur. Another is applying a damp tea bag.

For many years countries have sworn by tea and it's oxidants, and it is widely accepted that such measures can stop any progression of further infection.Find more great advice and treatment at http://www.your-best-interests.com/coldsores
