True intimacy with God is not giving Him a few minutes when our day begins to acknowledge what He has done for us and then rush off to prepare for our workday. As our workdays get busier and more hectic, those few minutes get fewer and fewer. Seeing this happening to us makes our enemy's day. Satan loves to see us so busy we do not have time to truly connect to God.

True intimacy with God is also not getting down on our knees, rattling off a list of requests and demands to God (do this, do that, go here, go there), and then going on our merry way. We may or may not say "Thank You" depending how much we are in a hurry. This is not a reflection of an intimate relationship.

True intimacy with God is a relationship developed through direct communication with Him through the Holy Spirit. It is more than a quick connection through brief, rote prayers. Those prayers that are so quick and unoriginal that a short time later you cannot remember whether or not you even prayed. Prayers that are so quick, we are finished before receiving God's response to them.

Spending time with God is really the only way to develop true intimacy with Him. It takes two- way communication to develop an intimate relationship. Too many Christians have a one-way communication relationship with God. Their prayers consist of only them talking to God. There is not intimacy because they do not give God the opportunity to talk with them. It takes more time than most of us are giving God to have this two-way communication with Him.

True intimacy is developed by spending time with God through meditation, when we become silent in His presence and wait for His voice to speak to us. It is seeking to be in God's presence through the Holy Spirit to hear His voice. Through meditation, we seek God's voice, hear it, understand it, and obey it, all with the help of power from the Holy Spirit.

God's children can become more intimate with Him through meditation. You do not have to have a special talent or gift. It takes a commitment of time and patience to succeed at it. The problem is that many of us do not want to give God more of our time to develop an intimate relationship. Satan has been successful in getting us to give our time to so many other things. We do not have time for our family, ourselves, or for God. This has resulted in so many of us having a disconnected relationship with Him. This fits right into Satan's plan. Satan knows we are more vulnerable to his attacks if we are not connected to God.

But if you really desire to do it, meditation can be achieved in different ways. Slowly walking in a quiet place, listening to music, and certain forms of dancing are only a few methods. You can find one that works best for you.

The more time we spend with God through earnest prayer and meditation, the deeper and more intimate relationship we will have with Him. We will know His voice and be more willing to respond obediently to it. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we will have deep, direct communication with Him.
