Spiritual living will launch God's people into a mentality of walking in the Spirit, a mentality based on our renewed mind, which comes from Christ's indwelling Spirit. At this mental level, we do not desire to allow the things of our flesh to hinder our daily spiritual walk. We are aware of the enemy's plan and many tricks to get us to stumble. But, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we keep on walking.
If we as believers desire to live a life of spirituality, we must understand all that we have comes from Christ, including our daily bread. We brought nothing into this world when we were born and we will carry nothing out of it when we die. God has promised to supply all our needs through Jesus. We are not owners, we are stewards of all God has given us through Christ. God expects us to be obedient and faithful stewards. Christ's indwelling Spirit guides us into meeting God's expectations.
To live a life of spirituality, we must also let Christ's indwelling Spirit guide our thoughts. This cannot be done through learning in the natural. It comes solely through the channel of the Spirit of Grace. Through the Spirit we are able to come to the knowledge of the truth from God. We are filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Our walk will then be pleasing to God and we can be fruitful in all our doing.
Living a life of spirituality requires action on our part. All of our movements should continually stay focused on Christ to the point where we live and breath Christ, where Christ becomes our mode of operations. His agenda becomes our agenda. We put self aside wanting His will to be done in our lives, wanting to fulfill the God given purpose for our lives.
Spiritual living involves listening to God in our inward thoughts, each day being consciously aware of His presence. It means being in constant communion with Christ, such a close relationship that it is no longer us but Christ doing the will of the Father through us day after day.
As we live by the Spirit, nothing comes from inside us apart from the sanctifying operation of the Holy Spirit. We have neither self-righteousness nor holiness of our own. It all comes from Christ's indwelling Spirit within us. Our worship, our praise, and our good works come from the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Let us not begin any day, start any project, carry our any enterprise, or conclude any transaction without His guidance. Apart from the Spirit, we are weak. We depend upon Him and Him alone for all things.
Then let us not grieve the Spirit or provoke Him to anger by our sins. Let us not rebel against His leadership by following our own way. Let us not give in to the tempting desires of our flesh. We must foster every command of the Spirit and be ready to obey each of His promptings. The Spirit is indeed mighty and we should therefore attempt nothing without Him. Through the Spirit of Christ, we must develop a special love for God, a love by which the Father becomes everything to us. This love is developed as we walk in the Spirit and live each day totally through the Spirit of Christ.
