How is your attitude? Are you aware that your attitude can make or break you?
There are a few people I know and it is usually easy for me to see those who are truly happy. One who may be homeless and without much and then another who has everything they have always wanted can be happy. It doesn't make a difference when the attitude is gratitude.
Attitude can even get you through times like recession, earthquakes, tropical storms and anything else you may go through. It won't always be easy, but the recovery time is faster when your attitude is good.
When I observe those who are constantly whining and complaining about everyone and everything around them, I visualize Eor from Winnie the Pooh! On the other hand, when I see people who are usually happy-go-lucky no matter what the circumstance I see and hear gratefulness.
What makes the difference you might ask? Attitude!
I had a friend send me a letter the other day and she reminded me of the importance of attitude. Naturally I hung the letter on my office wall, smiled and thought how true it is.
Here is the letter (author unknown);
"Attitude"
"Attitude is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than what other people say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, a home. The remarkable thing is, we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude."
My friend than closed the letter and personally wrote, ‘You have a great attitude.' Again I was blessed by a friend who sent me a random letter. It made me so grateful that I had to reflect on how wonderful it is to be one with God.
I reflected back to when I myself had the Eor attitude and I chose everything over God. I had my own gods that I answered to and they weren't good. I never received blessings in the form of a letter. I then decided to focus on what God tells us about on our attitudes. While there are several passages concerning attitude in the Bible, I chose to share the one noted below. I sing praises that I now have a relationship with Jesus and that I can say a prayer to release my own children from generational sin and consequences. I choose not to be miserable today.
1 Kings 11:10-12 (NIV)
10 Although he had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the LORD's command. 11 So the LORD said to Solomon, "Since this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates. 12 Nevertheless, for the sake of David your father, I will not do it during your lifetime. I will tear it out of the hand of your son.
Today I am truly happy. How is your attitude and are you happy? If you're not, you have the choice to change it.
