Ford tips to save on gas:

There are several ways that you can save on gas in your Ford car. Here is a list from FordBaby.com that shows the top 10 ways that you can save gas.

1. You do not need to warm up your engine. Just start it and go. Today’s engines do not need to be warmed up, even in winter.

2. Excess weight in your car causes your car to use more fuel to move. Remove this excess weight, things such as tools, junk in the truck and on the seats. You can also remove your hitch install it only when you need it . Also if you have a roof rack and you never use it, take it out.

3. Accelerate smoothly and brake gradually. Sudden bursts of speed cause your engine to overwork and use more gas.

4. Replace your air filters according to the manual.

5. Keep your wheels aligned and when you are at it make sure that your tires are inflated to the Ford’s recommendation.

6. Driving at high speeds on the highway with your windows open makes your engine work harder to move the car. Close your windows and use your AC unit, you will save more gas by doing this.

7. Use good-quality oils. Ford recommends SAE 5W-20 oil for most cars and trucks to provide the best fuel economy. Only oils "Certified for Gasoline Engines" by the American Petroleum Institute (API) with the starburst symbol should be used

8. Purchase fuel first thing in the morning when it is cooler and denser. Some say this works, others don't but you can surely do it if you can.

9. Modify your schedule so you're not driving during rush hours. Stop and go driving is one of the worst offenders when it comes to wasting fuel. Alternately, see if you can switch from 5 eight hour days to 4 ten hour days. This decreases miles driven to and from your job by 20%.

10. Pick a better route. The shortest is always going to be the most fuel efficient if it has more stops.
