The 2008 Presidential campaign has been one of the most intense campaigns that I have experienced in my lifetime. Exciting yet at the same time disappointing! I can't recall hearing so much rhetoric, prejudice and blatant disrespect in any other campaign during my adult life. By the way, that has only been eight years!

Now all joking aside, I have already expressed how I believe that no matter who wins the Presidency, God is still large and in charge. We just need to do our part and keep our noses on our own face.

I realize that everyone has their own opinion and that it would be a perfect world if everyone got along. If we could all just agree that it is okay to disagree. Why can't we just do our homework, footwork, vote?

Apparently, I am way off base! There is so much slander, prejudice and games being played that it is information overload. Quite frankly, I could handle it if I didn't hear one more comment like, McCain this, Obama that, Clinton did, Biden yahta yahta and our latest surprise, Sarah Palin as McCain's running mate. According to the press, the main if not only reason McCain did this surprise pick was to woo in Clinton's supporters and secure their votes.

Obviously I have been a voting adult longer than eight years, but what kind of message are we sending out to young adults that are new voters?  Are we saying that they need to listen to veteran voters because they have been there, done that? Shouldn't we allow them to do their own homework and make their own decisions without trying to convince them who to vote for?

I'm sorry folks, but it is time for us to be examples and get out of the negative side of the campaigning. With the race card, gender and everything else involved, it wouldn't surprise me if there were voters just looking for signs like this before they cast their ballots. Shame on us, if we had an influence that would reflect this sign, or any other of its nature!

Women –30 miles North

Forgive me if I sound curt, but could we please behave like adults and treat each other the way we would like to be treated?

As I read your article I focused on your God is in control message. I absolutely agree with you. I just hope that this time, He is not forced to use hanging chads or Floridians that are to dumb to place their mark in the right bubble to bring about "his outcome". By the way, I really like your picture posted to your articles, you are one beautiful lady.

Absoulutely God is in control. I also think that we as adults need to be responsible for ourselves and stop trying to control others.

Michelle,

I have echoed your thoughts on this subject since the beginning of the presidental campaign. I don't think you are being curt at all, your words are right on target!

Thank you JD! I wouldn't mind if I woke up tomorrow and the whole process would be done.

Michelle, I must agree with you about the negative campaigning. It is sad that politicians have to revert to childish name calling in order to divert the attention of the voters from the fact that they sometimes just don't have anything positive to say.

Michelle, God IS always in control and has a plan. Many of us poor souls just never seem to understand that. HOWEVER, not condoning the negative types of articles I have seen truth should never be overlooked by good people. If one looks at the speech Obama made one hears about  a long list of abuses of people. He "says" or "professes" this is how he would fix them all. Yet HE has been part of their creation. He talked about are we our brothers keeper? All eloquent words and just that words. People are frustrated, mad, upset because well, the words don't match the deeds. Can he change, well look to reality. It takes many to make the type of changes he talks about. As was stated in the homily yesterday at church, we are to pick up the cross and follow Jesus. That means into the temple where the money changers are, into the halls of government where the power brokers are, into the streets where the people are and to our neighbors here and abroad. When and that WHEN is significant, PEOPLE WHO PROFESS START TO DEMAND CHANGE WILL COME AND NOT BEFORE. No not in any one person save Christ Himself. That is the message Christ sent.l Christ changed the world through love, not money, riches or wealth and certainly not at the edge of the sword. We can start that process if and once again that IF is significant we DEMAND IT NOW, NOT LATER. Sadly we won't, why because like it or not we are the sheep and that is why Christ must come back.  Best wishes, Robert

HI Michelle,

The campaign this year is a wild one for sure. I believe that the press makes it worse by carrying on the rumors that are spread. The press needs those ratings, so they are off and running their mouths; therefore helping to make this campaign as nasty as it can be. Just like Palin's 17 year old daughter being pregnant. Hello, do you know how many teenagers have been pregnant. It's not like she's the first to step on a line that we have never heard of before. God is in control, and I believe he will put who he wants in office, regardless that we have a voting process. He has the ultimate say. If I didn't realize that fact, all the viciousness going on this campaign would be rather scarey.

I have never seen such a wild campaign. I also have always felt the press and associates blow things out of place. I know we are all blessed and better off because God is in charge. Praise the Lord for that!

Hugs and blessings,
