A person who is described as a loner is normally somebody who has a lack of self-confidence or a low self-esteem. Some of these people are quite happy to live in this isolated however for many it can be a sad and lonely existance.

Peter, from Glasgow, classes himself as a loner and would much prefer to become part of main stream society. He has a number of issues in his life which has led him to this type of way of life not least the fact that he has a stutter. Peter has stated that this stuttering problem has decimated what little confidence he had and has ruined his love of people. So many of these people, from class mates to family and to work colleagues, have looked at him like he is some kind of freak or alien. They have laughed behind his back and mocked him. Peter now prefers to have little contact with other humans, how sad.

So what is the answer, how can Peter get his life back on track? Well I suppose the first thing he needs to do is to find a solution to his speech impediment. Any cure for stuttering is likely to require a lot of hard work, dedication and time. To find the technqiues to eradicate the stutter he will need to search the internet, possibly make a number of phone calls, all of this of course means getting out and about.

Unlike certain people who live as a loner Peter is desperate to find a way out. He wants to be able to mix with other people, to play sports, to for a drink in a bar, to have a girlfriend. He wants to make a success of his life and his dream is to become a father.

In reality Peter has got himself into a bit of a rut, he has resigned himself to stuttering for the rest of his life when in truth there is likely to be a solution out there for him. It is time for Peter to shake off those negative shackles and to start thinking in a more positive manner.
