The Beaver Head River Is a Premier Trout fishing river in Montana.

Fishing reports for Beaverhead river are available from many different sources but the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks website offers the best and most up to date reports in the State of Montana.

Now lets talk a little bit about the area. The Beaverhead River originally formed at out of the Red Rock River and Horse Prairie Creek, but now the Beaverhead River begins its 69-mile-long journey at the outlet of Clark Canyon Reservoir, an irrigation storage facility constructed in 1964. It joins with the Big Hole River at Twin Bridges, Montana, to form the Jefferson River. The river above Dillon is mainly made up of a tight channel meandering through densely covered willow banks. From Dillon, it flows through a broad open agricultural valley for 50 miles before reaching Twin Bridges. Its channel is restricted through a narrow canyon during part of its lower journey near Point of Rocks. The water in the Beaverhead River is cold, except in areas located in the lower river. Fish cover primarily consists of submerged and overhanging bank vegetation, undercuts and long, deep pools.

The Beaverhead River is one of the premier brown trout fishing rivers in the untied States and the best in Montana. The Beaverhead produces more large trout, mainly brown trout, than any other river in Montana. There are public access areas that you can fish on the river, or you can contact a guide and set up a float fishing trip where you can cover greater spans of the river. Just visit the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks website to get all the information you would need to plan your trip. Please make sure you read up on the Montana fishing regulations, I have provided the exception regulations for the Beaverhead river below. Also make sure you get the latest Beaverhead River fishing report while you are visiting the site.
