Non-gamers usually don't understand what World of Warcraft players find so exciting about running around in a virtual world and beating up pixel monsters. Fair's fair, everyone's entitled to their own entertainment, but what do you do when you want to buy a special WoW gift for a player? A little advice is in order.
First up, find out what faction they play: Alliance or Horde? An Alliance guy wouldn't be caught dead in a Horde t-shirt, so be careful. If they have both Hordie and Ally characters, you're in luck, the range of gifts has just doubled.
Then think about what kind of stuff they usually brag about: the new t-shirt they bought? some new game? maybe a toy? do the girls like clothes or jewelry?
Now that you know the type of gift you're looking for, it's time to decide on something specific. If your friend is a fan of a particular race and class, look for a gift that references that, such as a Night Elf action figure/sculpture or a t-shirt designed for mages. If they love game in general, you can get anything with a World of Warcraft theme, while keeping in mind the conclusion for step 2. T-shirt, jewelry, action figures, special game packs with codes for in-game rewards - there's even energy drinks shaped like mana potions out there. All you need to do now is start looking.
Oh, and don't forget Wrath of the Lich King comes out soon! Getting the expansion on the day it's launched will make any World of Warcraft junkie extremely happy (but prepare to be ignored for the next couple of days).
Jen likes gadgets, gizmos and accessories and would buy them all if she could. Fortunately, she can't, so she just writes about them at Everything under $29.99. Since she's not Bill Gates yet, she chose to focus on cool things that won't break the bank (and the occasional really cheap item that's too bad to resist).
When she's not staring into a browser or RSS reader, she plays World of Warcraft more than it's good for her and reads a lot.
