As I sit here to write, there is a beautifully painted sky. Orange and pink streaks glowing as the sun sneaks over the mountain. Such beauty our God brings forth in the early morning hours--its rays inviting and seemingly warm.
Until I step outside and feel the crisp air blow gently on my face--a sad realization that sometimes things are not as they appear.
This is a perfect picture of what our lives can be at times. We spend time painting an outward picture of ourselves. We want others to see us as calm-collected and strong human beings.
All the while, the inside is cold; hurting and unsure of what lies ahead. So how do we obtain a true inner calm and warmth while the storm rages all around us?
The Creator of the universe--who sets the sun in a perfect place to bring warmth to our physical bodies--is also the One who sets the Son in a perfect place to bring warmth to our hearts.
It is a wonderful thing to bask in the presence of God and see how He has an amazing way of bringing stillness and peace when everything around us is screaming otherwise. Though your vision be blurred temporarily, know that He is working His wonder in your life and His plan for you is bigger and better than you can imagine.
Spend time with Him today--read His word and sing a song of praise. Invite Him into your heart to dwell with you always. Our heart is the place God designed His Son to live.
Today I pray each one of us will allow the warmth of the Son to penetrate our hearts--He is just a whisper away. May the beauty we work so hard to attain outwardly, be accomplished by first inviting the Beauty to live within. Perhaps it will ooze out naturally.
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with your whole heart." Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV
