The Mayans were not alone in their prediction of the end of the world. Edgar Casey, Nostradamus and even the Bible, all point to something happening in the near future. 2000 years ago the Mayans gave the exact time, which converted to our calender, points to December 21, 2012 at 11:11am

One of the reasons that many scientist do not quickly dismiss this date, is their respect for the Mayans. The Mayan calender is actually more accurate than the one used at this moment throughout our present world. An additional example of their amazing accomplishments, was the calculation of the time involved in a Lunar cycle all the way out to the 5 th decimal.

As Astronomers look out into the heavens, they calculate that earth will, at that future moment, be at an extremely close conjunction of the Winter Solstice Sun, with the crossing point of the Galactic Equator (the equator of the Milky Way) and the Ecliptic (path of the Sun) an event that takes place about every26,000 years.

The interest in this topic, is so large that over a dozen books have been published, and if you Google the subject, you will find thousands of articles supporting this "doomsday" prediction. The point of this document, is that you have not seen anything yet. As we get closer to the predicted date, we should all expect something similar to the Y2K panic, but multiplied about a thousand times.

Fear is not always rational, but at least this one has some scientific facts at its base. One of the reasons that fear is going to be at a very high level, relates to other things going on. The earth appears to be warming, polar ice is melting, tensions seem to be rising between countries, and religions, and many people are in total fear about the future. Everyone of these events, makes a percentage of our population very receptive to the possibility of the world ending, especially when you realize the Mayans accurately predicted their own demise (literally down to the year) long before it happened.

As a Christian, I am not the least bit worried, but I do want to prepare each of us, for the opportunities that I believe are coming our way. As peoples fears multiply, many of them will become receptive to what Jesus has to offer. We and our churches must be prepared, and ready to deal with what could be the greatest opportunity of the last several hundred years.

I know that God does not "need" us to bring people to Christ, but he allows each of us opportunities to be used by him as a tool, I think that this will be one of the greatest of these moments, in our life time.

Tell me what you think, all advice and comments are appreciated.

god is in control. not scientists. just because they are scientists dont mean they know everything. i dont believet this at all. no one can predict the end of the world only god can. and he will decide when it is time for the world to end not the scientists who may just be saying this to scare people. but if they are just saying it to scare people its mean to do that. I have been thinking about this for a while. and yes I did panic.. and I still am. cause its a scary situation. and how can you not think about it?? they said dont commit suicide cause you wont go to heaven. well some people might take this whole end of the world bull$%&*@$%& and that will give them a reason to commmit suicide. whats the point in living if its 3 years away? but then again scientists dont really no that much anyways. they think they do. I agree dont let this possibly non event take over your life.

After watching the Knowing I found it comforting to read the scripture below. I believe the main themes in that movie is lies. Why would we wait for aliens to come and take the chosen children out of the world?

The "chosen" children are "chosen" by being able to hear the whispers of demonic creatures/alien beings of light? Nicholas cage allows his son to be taken by the aliens then goes home to his Christian family, they hug and simultaneously the world explodes. The aliens let the children out on a new world a new earth with a swaying tree of life. I feel that movie is a lie.

This is not our destiny as Christians. Jesus will come and return and build up a new heaven and a new earth.

Psalms 46- Living Bible

God is our refuge and strength, a tested help in times of trouble. And we need not fear even if the world blows up and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam; let the mountains tremble.

There is a river of joy flowing through the city of our God the sacred home of the God above all gods.

God himself is living in that city; therefore it stands unmoved despite the turmoil everywhere. Her will not delay his help. The nations rant and rave in anger - but when God speaks, the earth melts in submission and kingdoms totter into ruin.

The Commander of the armies of heaven is here among us. HE, the God of Jacob, has come to rescue us.

Come, see if glorious things that our God does, how he brings ruin upon the word and causes wars to end throughout the earth, breaking and burning every weapon. Stand Silent! know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation in the world!

The commander of the heavenly armies is here among us! He, the God of Jacob has come to rescue us!

The Bush's, Cheneys and Rumsfelds of the world seem to be making good money on destroying the world, and their noses aren't "big", as you imply, meaning Jewish. So your anti-Jewish theory doesn't really work, now does it?

I always have concern when "end of the worldism" is used to bring people to Christ. People should be encouraged and educated on the sense of well-being every day in Christ, rather than to ramp up the effort to capture followers out of fear of some ancient prophesy. Let's just work toward living a good life in Christ and showing unbelievers the truth. Let them come to us in the knowlege they are welcome, not just notches on some cosmic fencepost.

The world is going to end as we know it! And the people who don't believe or don't want to believe are fools... No, Christ is most likely not going to come back on 12/21/12, but the events of that day are going to send us forward to Christ's return! In the Bible it says that the closer to the end we get that we are going to know when "things" are going to happen! Every one needs to be aware of what's happening and stop hiding their heads in the sand. People please read the book of Daniel and the book of Revelation. These 2 books explain alot and they will help you start to understand what is going to happen!

The End of the World? 2012 or 21/12/12 see the pattern? 2000 divide it by 3. Oh we get 666.666. Why are we all obsessed with numbers? Always an interesting topic but the Future IS NOT set in stone. ANYTHING could happen in time and space. The possibilities are endless. The world has supposed to end a countless number of times before but HASN’T and so called great prophets whom have predicted previous major events throughout history is only through our own interpretation of what we think their CODE was. Human nature has a habit of looking for things that actually aren’t there. Now I do believe in God but please live life to the FULL and not through the eyes of some religious NUT! God Bless!

I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but the earth is participating in a cycle of our solar system that happens every 26,000 years. It will happen again 26,000 years from 12/21/12. Natural cycles of the universe people!

Please do not allow the fear-mongers to get to you. They want to use fear to bend you to their will, and that's what bullies always do. But bullies are really cowards who attempt to use bluster to cover their cowardice.

Thought make the world, blissful and peaceful thoughts would create a world of loving place. Whereas the thought on end of the world, would make this world a sad place to live in. Christains claimed world ending, please donate all your wealth to those needies across the globe and just live simply. Most of the Christians still live luxiouriously, do you think they really believe the world is coming to an end or they just want you to donate money to the church for more joys...The world would only be able to return its bliss and loving nature if Christians know what Jesus is talking about - loving peace, harmony and serenity within is Jesus, the inherent nature loving kindness heart of all is known as God, and you all have this loving sincere heart.

A thousand times nothing is still nothing. 2012 will mark the end of the Christian Era, put a note in your calendars.

What is the significance between the eons of prophesies announcing the coming of Christ 2009 years ago and the kinds of "prophesies" we hear today? What separates doomsday predictions in ancient times from predictions in modern times?

i read somewhere that before the end of time, christ will make himself known to this earth again. in religious terms, i am an athiest, and take a scientific approach to life, However, i dont agree that scientists know everything, and i believe that if the world is going to truly end, then the presence of god will be known, and only he can bring about an apocolypse.

Personally, i feel that there mey be some truth in the mayan 2012 prediction, however i am not convinced it will be the destruction of the earth in the literal sense, but perhaps a significant event will take place that will change the view of the earth for the future.
