Baseball for over 100 years has brought the multitude of players and fans roaring to the sound of , "Play Ball."

Now in the modern era of our game of baseball we have faced circumstances which have here before been met with astute and sound wisdom making subtle change keeping the interest and appetite for the game on the very cutting edge of popularity.

Some of the cruelest of things one must experience is the facing up to reality when one finds the masses or even the closest of friends no longer cares to be in your presence or company.

Baseball one of the grandest of games taken in by the masses and nurtured into what we so fondly called our "National Pastime" has now simply over played its hand.

Organized or the professional Major Leagues of baseball seemingly has followed the route of the almighty dollar "green back" as in money pricing itself out of favor of the lowly on the street blue collar worker and rag a muffins kids out in the neighborhoods. Why did it have to happen? What with television revenues reaching the outer margins of Mars and beyond paying players beyond reason and now trying to overcharge its paying fans or patrons to enjoy something which is too costly.

Baseball and all sporting venues grew and prospered under the advantage of keeping the public well informed via the local newspapers the national media and the advent of television. Neither the newspaper, the radio and even the quick to follow on television of the sports world slowed attendance to the games. The ever present greed for profit beyond reason in the pricing of attendance and the turning of the turnstiles will soon be rusty and not turning so freely.

Profit is one thing but gouging profit at the expense of the blue collar populace is like the Legends of Rome buckling under the weight of power and the Empire comes crumbling down.

Like was mentioned earlier newspaper, radio and television promoted attendance gains contrary to popular belief by the doubting Thomases. Like Caesar needed his warning to beware and stay away from the Forum. Professional Baseball has visited a place called Waterloo when it agreed to this Baseball Instant Replay.

Here is the warning and what is told in the tea leaves. Instant replay for baseball will open the floodgates of video reruns of the entire games of baseball. What profit a blue collar worker to spend his half week of wages carrying his family to the ball park when he can let the kids enjoy the game with a $2.50 video.

Ok so you asked how about the crowds going to NASCAR and Football events? NASCAR and Football are both akin with the strong possibility of violence and mayhem. The Romans of old relished and even demanded the sporting thrill of the Gladiators man against man and Man against Beast . The on the scene watching of physical brutality is a in person spectator event and will never be thwarted by television video or any such thing. Mortgage the farm and sell the wife and kids but spectators for these venues will continue unabated till Kingdom Come.

Baseball Instant replay, exorbitant prices for game entry and enjoyment, the Rising Tide of the coming Baseball International Series and recent calamity of the Olympic Games rhetoric are all contributing to the slow demise of the Americas Game Of Baseball as it was once controlled and managed on the professional level by the Major League BaseballOwners.

Up jumps the rest of the world to not only challenge this writ of Americas claim for supremacy at the sport but look out Nellie the horse has bolted the stable and is headed for the green pastures looking for the long green grass or is it green backs?
