If you believe you have a scabby vagina, then let us first clarify that the belief you have is a state of falsified confusion. There is no such thing as a scabby vagina. Yes, scabs can form round the genital area, hence the scabby vagina thoughts. Why scabs develop is wide varied, but infection is usually the number one cause. Vaginal pimples, boils or lumps are common concerns. One sexually transmitted disease which we relate to "scabby," is herpes. It is a contagious infection caused by two different but closely related viruses. Both viruses have similar symptoms. If the mouth is infected it is referred to as oral herpes, whereas infected sex organs, labels the disease as "genital herpes."

About 90% of US citizens have suffered regular type herpes, i.e. "oral herpes" (cold sores.) Scabby vaginal uncertainties are soon determined if genital herpes is diagnosed. More than 31 million people in the US have been treated for genital herpes and half a million diagnosed annually. Herpes can happen without giving indication of its presence (no symptoms.) Herpes requires immediate medical attention to prevent spreading. Herpes is notably caught through direct skin-to-skin contact.

Moist body parts like the mouth, throat, anus, vulva, vagina, and the eyes are common locations for the herpes infection. Even before actual lip scabbing - avoid oral sex, it can rapidly pass on causing genital herpes. The disease can spread even before blisters form. Herpes is "not" easily transmitted if cold sores have healed and scabs fallen off. It is unlikely caught from lavatory seats, pools, lidos or bathing utensils; nonetheless be on your guard from other infections that can be caught from sharing. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, this virus can be passed onto the infant during or after birth.

Oral herpes we directly connect to the mouth. Cold sores on the lips develop in small type blister clusters. Avoid oral sex or planting a sloppy kiss on a person's cheek to prevent spreading. Cold sores are just as common as a runny nose in children. Sometimes symptoms don`t show in patients. In contrast they can start from 2 to 20 days. Number one symptom of genital herpes is called "primary herpes." Frequent discomforts include genital tingling or itching - followed by soreness in the buttocks, lower limbs, and groin. Red lumps near the labia, clitoris, vagina, vulva, cervix, anus, thighs, or buttocks can turn blistery. Between 24-72 hours after blisters amass, they normally burst. Always maintain a strict hygiene ruling to prevent alien particles entering open sores.

Symptoms of primary herpes can include:

  • Itch
  • Burning sting when weeing
  • Problem peeing if sores caused swelling
  • Aching muscles
  • Headaches
  • Flu symptoms
  • Sickness
  • Feeling low

Normal time period for ridding symptoms is 3 weeks; Sores usually scab over and disappear without skin scarring. After the healing process - the virus still remains in the body. Symptoms can be severe during primary herpes, weakening in time for every future episode. Determining herpes will have your doctor examine the sores. Testing involves fluid suction taken from sores. Once diagnosis is made - appropriate treatment is given to clear up the infection. Medication does not destroy the virus, and is no guarantee of preventing future outbreaks. It is a treatable virus but not a completely curable one leaving the virus in your system forever. Sufferers may have their doctor prescribe an anti-herpes solution. Try other alternatives to reduce discomfort.

  • Keep infected area clean and dry.
  • Wear loose clothing
  • Take warm baths.
  • Cool compress/ice packs give relief
  • Drink water.
  • Regular rest periods.
  • Take painkillers (acetaminophen or ibuprofen.)Ask your GP before taking medicines.
  • If peeing is painful - separate the lips of the vulva so urine passes by sores. Wash hands directly after and boil wash the towel if possible.

To help prevent the virus, eat a healthy diet, rest regular and exercise more. Not only will it help deter herpes outbreaks, but a great deterrent for other conditions which pose threat to your health. Condoms should be used when having oral, vaginal, or anal sex. Wearing a rubber is not a 100% herpes prevention method if misused.

Being in control can help stop infection spreading, further out breaks and reduce pain.

  • Don't touch sores.
  • Use antibacterial solution to wash hands after sore contact.
  • Avoid rubbing eyes.
  • Never moisten contact lenses with saliva.
  • No kissing toddlers or pregnant women.

To clear up any misunderstanding on the herpes virus and AIDS is people are more susceptible to catching HIV if they suffer genital sores because the sores offer place for the HIV virus to enter the body and spread. Herpes simplex infects both male/female, but the pattern of infection is unalike. It is caused by exchange of saliva, semen, cervical fluid, or vesicle fluid from active lesions. Unfortunately, but fact, the female is about 4 times more likely to suffer herpes simplex type 2 than men. Vulnerable women have a higher possibility of contracting genital herpes from an infected man than that of man infected by a female. The first episode of genital herpes is the most painful and lasts longer than recurrent ones. Start up complications of genital Herpes in females include urinating problems in 10% to 15% of women and meningitis, an inflammation of the fluid surrounding the brain in up to 1 out of 4 women. Most alarming, however genital herpes is successfully treated on a large scale on a daily basis.

Herpes lesions inside the vagina or on the cervix can cause pelvic pain and discharge, resulting in wrong diagnosis (yeast infection, cervicitis or pelvic inflammatory disease.) This also applies to the urethra i.e.wrongly diagnosed as a urinary tract infection or bladder dysfunction. It is vital for herpes to be illiminated. If you have a smelly discharge or see unusual coloring/ texture, or a difference in urine color i.e. orange or cloudy seek GP advice.
