A Combination of evil elements in the world today can take its toll on our skin. From air polution to central heating it can all lead to one thing; skin damage.

In this article we detail how you can make homemade recipes to replenish and revive your skin. Your skin reflects what is going on inside, just like your hair does, so sometimes we have to look within to see where any problems are lying. Here are some tips on keeping your skin healthy.

  • Sleep is number one, not getting enough sleep can lead to dull skin.
  • Hydration is the key to healthy skin.
  • Keep your skin moisturized throughout the day.
  • Use facial masks at least once a week.
  • Exfoliate twice a week maximum.
  • Treat your face gently, do not tug or pull skin when applying make-up. This can damage the skin, and the elasticity, as you get older.
  • Never go to bed with make-up on.
  • Always use a higher factor sun cream on your face and your lips (they can get burnt too!)
  • Vitamin A is a must for healthy skin, if you do not have enough in your diet you should think about getting it in supplement form.
  • Give you skin a breather whenever possible as cosmetics can clog up the pored and this will result in spots.
Homemade Miracles Banana Cream - Anti Wrinkle Formula

As we get older our skin loses copper and this results in wrinkles. There is no cosmetic in this world that can prevent wrinkles, all we can do is delay their arrival. The rich ingredients in bananas can be soaked into the skin, and prevent wrinkles.

You will need:

1 Banana

  • Mash the banana in a small dish
  • Spread the mixture all over your face
  • Leave for 15-20 minutes.
  • Rinse with warm water.
  • Splash face with cold water
  • Gently pat dry.
Deep Sea Exfoliate

It is very important to exfoliate the skin, as this allows for dead skin to be removed and lets facial creams absorb more effectively into the skin.

You will need:

Sea Salt

Olive oil

Cotton Wool

  • Put your salt in a dish and pour in Olive oil.
  • Dampen your face with luke warm water.
  • Gently massage the mix in circular motions over your skin.
  • Avoiding the eye area.
  • Remove excess mixture with cotton wool.
  • Rinse the face with cold water
  • Gently pat dry

Note* You can replace the sea salt with sugar.

Sweet Apple Facial Mask

This mask is excellent for oily or skin prone to spots.

You will need:

1 Apple

Honey

  • Grate the apple into very fine pieces.
  • Add 5 teaspoons of Honey to the apple
  • Mix well.
  • Smooth the mixture over your skin.
  • Leave for 15 minutes.
  • Rinse off with cool water.
Creamy Orange Facial Mask

The sensation from this mask is both cooling and relaxing. The yogurt works as a cleanser and it also nourishes the skin. The orange is full of Vitamins and AHA's. It is a great mask if you are feeling sluggish and need a pick me up.

You will need:

Natural Yogurt

1 Orange

  • Juice the orange, collecting juice in a glass.
  • Add about half the juice from the orange to 1 teaspoon of yogurt.
  • Mix well, and apply to skin.
  • Relax for 5 minutes
  • Rinse well.
Hot Fruits - Facial Sauna

This opens the pores and is an ideal time to do a facial mask after this treatment. You should never use a facial sauna if you are pregnant, or suffer from breathing conditions.

You will need:

Oily Skin - Lemon and Eucalyptus Essential Oil

Normal Skin - Mandarin and Lavender Essential Oil

Dry Skin - Rose and Chamomile

  • Fill a bowl with water that was near to the boil
  • Add four drops of the essential oil that applies for your skin type.
  • Place a towel over your head and lean over the bowl
  • Relax with your head over the bowl letting no air in for 5 minutes
Always be cautious when trying out a new beauty regime. Allerigic reactions are common and we would always advise testing out products on your arm at least 24 hours prior to using the full product. Consult with your beautician if you are experiencing problems.
