If you are thinking about travelling to Salou on the Costa Dorada then you have made a wise choice. Whether you are travelling alone, as a couple or with kids it's the place to be. Through my own experience of staying in this Spanish resort - I can tell you that it is a town that meets with every tourist needs regardless of nationality. I myself have stayed in La Pineda a smaller resort "twice" within the last the three months (June and September 08.) Salou itself is about a 10 minute bus ride away from my place of stay. The golden Donaire hotel located directly on the beach was my first booking – followed with my second place of stay, The Estival Park Hotel. Both were very different types of accommodation, but nonetheless both served up food to cater for every palate and into the bargain most tasty, fulfilling and plenty of. The Aquopolis water park in La Pineda is approx six kilometres along the coast from Salou town, but luckily for me located next to the Estival Park Hotel, so just a minute walk from my hotel. It's funny how something as exciting as this theme park is situated on your door your step but never gets a visit – only to travel further afield for action. The Aquopolis water park is noted as a favorite day out for kids. This was proven judging by the long queues waiting on entry every day.

Salou is a primary holiday resort on the Costa Dorada and is the perfect holiday for sun lovers who wish to bronze the skin. It boasts beautiful beaches and coves. The beaches are clean making them a pleasure to stroll along at dusk or during the day. Salou like other famed Spanish resorts offers an exceptional climate and a wide variety of water sports. Eat your heart out Benidorm, Salou is a much more attractive and inviting town and near to the mini Disney Land (Port Aventura) Port Aventura is a popular theme park near the coast of Spain (Costa Dorada). You can visit it just for a day or book an entire package that includes accommodation, entertainment and entry to the park. Rides galore at Port Aventura can be found ranging from easy rides for children to exciting roller coasters.

Salou's Levante beach is one of the most well known on the Costa Dorada. If you love to shop then Salou is a place you will enjoy parting with your money. You will be spoilt for choice, and amazed at how many outlets there are to visit. No need for being picky on where to eat because food and service in most eateries are impeccable, and furthermore cheap. You'll find most varieties of international cuisine here as well as top class restaurants specializing in Catalan dishes with the emphasis on fresh fish, local produce and rice. Did you ever hear of an all you can eat Chinese restaurant serving roast potatoes, well in Salou they do, and in all truth this is one of the reasons why I returned. Salou`s palm tree lined block paved promenade is really something else, with spaced out water fountains along the walkway. Particular fountains light up at night. The promenade is actually separated from the beach itself. Several "safe" play areas for children follow through also.

The main beach of white sand is long and wide, shelving gently into the sea providing ideal conditions for young children. You can engage in sports and leisure activities including, golf, Para sailing, tennis, squash, hiking, cycling and horse riding - all local for you to enjoy during your stay. Salou has many fascinating cities and major tourist attractions, including the Salvador Dali museum at Figueres, the beautiful city of Barcelona and hour away by coach has the fabulous Gaudi architecture and the awe-inspiring mountain monastery at Montserrat. Barcelona is a bustling city and fast going.

Cap Salou starts at the ending of La Pineda. It is north of Salou (between Salou itself and La Pineda). You can get there easily by bus, of which I hasten to add are ten penny, so no hanging round bus stops. A ride into Salou from La Pineda cost 1 euro 75 cents, well worth for the length of the journey, Cap Salou is full of eye catching glorious bays. An interesting spot is 'The Curve' and well worth a visit to have a beer or meal.

Night life is busy in Salou and action packed in some of the bars. One bar in particular is the 007 club.  It is a James Bond theme bar where employees dress up in fancy dress making your night out most exciting. Opinions will always differ greatly as to what the perfect holiday is. I can only but rate Salou as the resort with everything. Good food, good clean beaches, good weather, good entertainment, good amenities and good activities. The only thing "not" good about Salou was to have to say GOODbye.
