You may have heard or you may have been advised that there is no known cure for stammering. Is this correct? Fortunately the answer to this question is a definite no. So why do so called specialists keep advising people to accept the fact that they have a stammer? Well for the real answer to this question you will have to ask the speech therapists themselves, what these people should be saying is that they are unable to provide you with a cure for stammering that does not mean that other people will not be able to.
I am a person who has successfully managed to overcome my own stammer, a stammer that had affected my life for eighteen years. It was not easy to achieve fluency; I had to work extremely hard for a long period of time to ensure that the techniques that I had established became a natural part of my overall speech. These efforts were more than worth it and my life has improved no end. I have now enjoyed the freedom of fluent speech for the last thirteen years and have written many articles on the subject.
What amazes me and also often annoys me is the fact that only one speech therapist has contacted me during these last thirteen years to ask about my methods. There are numerous organisations out there who call themselves specialists in the subject of stammering or stuttering but who have never contacted me. So have they ever heard of me? You bet they do! How do I know this? Well because I have contacted them in an attempt to advise them of the best ways to treat stammering. So what was their response? Well to put it politely they were not interested. Why? Who knows? It is like they do not want to find a cure for stammering. Crazy!
My advice to people who stammer is this; there is no need to accept second best, do not listen to negative people, if you are willing to work very hard then fluency is achievable and to never give up.
