Most accuse me of constantly denigrating scientists. Not true. I only denigrate the ones who already know it all and will not listen to anyone who disagrees with them. Even from among their own colleagues. They have a habit of, whenever something new is discovered, immediately forming their supposition to fit their previous suppositions. We are entering another phase that is going to tax their imaginations to find a way to completely destroy the idea or to work it into their preconceived ideas. It will be interesting to watch. These know-it-all's are the ones who wield the biggest stick. So any legitimate scientist should lay back and see what they determine is the best assumption in this new discovery. Otherwise they will blackball them.

Evidence reinforcing my accusation above is exhibited in the case of the publishing of the book and documentary film of The Privileged Planet written by Guillermo Gonzalez (PhD in Astronomy) and Jay W. Richards (PhD in philosophy/theology) in 2004. Although the book did not deny any of the previously accepted assumptions of noted scientists, the very thought of this planet being privileged set off a scientific attack. Gonzalez was denied tenure at the Iowa State University for his connection with it and both men were immediately attacked in the scientific community.

Today, an article in SciTech by Clara Moskowitz entitled "Scientists: Earth May Exist in Giant Cosmic Bubble" tells of what scientists have discovered, or think they have, that the earth may surely exist in a special situation not heretofore realized. I will not attempt to explain the article but rather, will give you a link to it where you can read for yourself.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,430943,00.html

But the point that I find very interesting is this paragraph:

"One problem with the void idea, though, is that it negates a principle that has reigned in astronomy for more than 450 years: namely, that our place in the universe isn't special."

You see, those scientists who try so hard to dismiss any evidence of any intelligence behind our existence, simply refuse to accept or even listen to anything one might mention to the contrary. That is why schools are not allowed to teach the evidence which is abundant that there is assuredly intelligent design in our universe, our galaxy, or earth and it's location, life, diversity of life, superiority of man over all other life, and many other marvelous things. Here is a couple of quotes from some of them:

"Much evidence can be advanced in favour of the theory of evolution from biology, biogeography and paleontology, but I still think that to the unprejudiced, the fossil record of plants is in favour of special creation. Can you imagine how an orchid, a duckweed, and a palm have come from the same ancestry, and have we any evidence for this assumption? The evolutionist must be prepared with an answer, but I think that most would break down before an inquisition." (E.J.H. Corner, Prof of Botany, Cambridge University, England. Evolution in Contemporary Botanical Thought, Quadrangle Books, p. 97)

"The firm step toward explaining the appearance of living things had been taken. The elementary organic constituents required for the chas succeeded. There are, in fact, many thresholds to be crossed. Life is based upon two mutually interactive systems, one of which makes provision for growth and the other for reproduction. The systems are also interdependent, and neither may exist without the other. Which was formed first?

The answer that they were formed simultaneously is too simple to be acceptable. The problem of how the first living organism was formed has still to be solved."
(Giuseppe Minelli, Professor of Comparative Anatomy, University of Bologna, Italy, "The Evolution of Life: The History of Life on Earth," [1985], Facts on File: New York NY, 1986, p.5)

It is most unlikely that this "new" discovery will influence any of the "Know-it-alls" to give second thought to any intelligent design. They could resolve so very many unanswered questions if they would only open their minds. They have applied suppositions to astronomical activities which are, in them selves suppositions. This new bubble existence may resolve some of them. They think that the universe is rapidly expanding. And because they think that, they think there was a massive eruption of a singularity which is thought to have been the size of a needle point (or some say as big as a dime) which formed all of this matter and gases and flung them trillions of miles away in 13.5 billion years. And, because they think that, they think there is some "dark energy" still unrevealed to them, which is pushing them away at an ever increasing speed. And they call us who believe in an Almighty Spirit God, stupid and superstitious.

And with all the unknowns, black holes, dark matter, dark energy, to further confuse the confused, they have now discovered patches of unidentified matter which are all moving at a very high rate of speed, all in the same direction. Read this taken from another article by the same author in SciTech as the one above.

"(These) Patches of matter in the universe seem to be moving at very high speeds and in a uniform direction that can't be explained by any of the known gravitational forces in the observable universe. Astronomers are calling the phenomenon "dark flow." The stuff that's pulling this matter must be outside the observable universe, researchers conclude."

Much of "the known gravitational forces of the observable universe" are also unknowns. My own prognosis is that they may all wind up pulling their hair out (if indeed they have any), beating their head against a wall and singing, "nya, nya, ne, nya, nya"

All would be much better if they concentrated their unquestioned brilliance toward those things they are good at, discovering causes for illnesses, remedies for them, and so on, rather than trying to prove the unprovable, and just accept the obvious.

Great article, Joel. I have no doubt that science has created our planet and our universe; but until they prove me wrong, I will always believe that GOD gave us our science and everything that we have that goes with it.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Sandra, I can always depend on you and Susan to help me start my day.  I am totally convinced that God created this universe and that he set in motion the natural laws that sustain it. But as my article "No One But God Can Build A Hummingbird", I extend that to the universe as well. I wish you well.

Joel, you sum it up in your last paragraph when you penned, "All would be much better if they concentrated their unquestioned brilliance toward those things they are good at, discovering causes for illnesses, remedies for them, and so on, rather than trying to prove the unprovable, and just accept the obvious." I couldn't agree with you more! Thank you for an informative article!

Thanks Judi,
I appreciate your comment. And yes, I readily acknowledge that these people are brilliant and have made many almost unbelievable advances in many things, medicine, space exploration, etc. but some are so obsessed with proving that there is no God that they cannot concentrate on the things they are capable of doing.

Please frame your debate to make it easier to follow. Perhaps bullet points, or contrasting paragraphs will make it easier to follow. I was distracted with the personal testimonial at the beginning. You have passion: keep writing!

I couldn't agree with you less on this.

You attack science, accusing scientists of being "Know-it-alls", and yet you conclude your article by stating that scientists should just "accept the obvious", or to be more precise, everyone should just accept what you declare to be obvious. Is it not you, therefore, who is pertaining to know what is true and what is not?

Scientific study does not begin by assuming that things are "obvious". It is precisely because most things in God's universe are unknown and not obvious that there is a need for scientific investigation.

I have a believe in God, but I have no problem whatsoever in accepting that life on Earth is the result of hundreds of millions of years of evolution. This is not because I claim to know it all, but because our knowledge of evolution is built on hundreds of years of study, investigation and critical review.

There are many things about the Earth's position in the universe which make it especially suited to life. But unique throughout the universe? I think not. Given the number of stars and scale of the universe, I think that the probability that life exists elsewhere is overwhelming. Approaching that prospect from the context of faith, then I would suggest it extremely arrogant to declare that our planet was chosen by God to be the one special place where life would exist.

Thanks for reading and commenting Andy, but as you say, I couldn't agree with you less. I have never attacked science in any manner. I do bemean scientists who have no proof of what they claim to be scientific fact. Take time to visit my website listed in my bio above and then click on the Evolutionists Quotes (from the sitemap page).

Sir, with all due respect, I encourage you to read the literature and not a poorly written "news article" by none other than Fox News. If this is where you obtain most of your "knowledge" about scientific thought, and current scientific knowledge, then your post may be excused.

Thank you for reading Chris, but I always research my articles via several sources, very rarely less than three. I can tell by your remarks that you have a prejudiced attitude towards Fox News. It is the only reliable cable news, but that is not nearly my primary source. The fact that I placed their URL there was for the readers to understand the subjct. I have quotes listed which I did not get from Fox News.
