Why do men cheat? An age old questions with many answers. The most obvious reason is because they can! Men are born hunters and it is inherent that they seek out new prey. It is a man's desire to conquer, and to obtain the affections of a new woman allows a man to feel fulfilled, if only temporarily. The next reason which also points to the original reason is insecurity. The affirmation of his continued prowess by a new conquest reaffirms his man hood and builds his confidence.

The third reason is loneliness. Many times the partner forgets their role and no longer massages his ego. Falling into a routine can be a death sentence for a marriage/relationship. It is very easy to take each other for granted, but when a man is taken for granted and or neglected his response is often to find comfort elsewhere, in another woman's arms.

The next reason is because he does not know how to say no. We now live in a society where women will openly pursue your man and this attention is both exciting and confirming. Most men who are being pursued for the first time can not help but succumb to the advances, especially when most women do not want commitment in return. Unattached sex can be a great aphrodisiac.

The need for peace in the home seems to be the number one reason that men stray. "Just give me 15 minutes!" many exclaim. As soon as the man comes through the door the spouse/partner is waiting with her list of complaints about the day, not realizing that he is also worn out and needs time to exhale after a long day. Peace and quiet to reflect, catch the stats, to watch something to get his mind off of his day, or just a shower to get off the days dirt is all that he asks for. The other woman is more than willing to give him this and anything else that he may request, after all her problems are not his problems. He is there because unlike his home life it is carefree and stress free there. When a relationship has nothing more than constant arguing, fighting, and complaining this helps to further delineate the relationship causing the man to feel undesirable and worthless. Men have a desire to feel worthy. Self worth is an important portion of the make up of a man. The desire to problem solve and make all well is inherent in him and when in a home where there never is a resolution, after a while he will withdraw from the situation since he cannot serve his purpose there as the healer. Facets of men range from those who feel rejection, or abuse at the hand of his mother. This man will be resentful of the children who appear to get so much of the woman's time. He feels un-appreciated and often has different ideals concerning family closeness; he is often distant from his family. Author Judith Warsaw

hi judith,

you bring out a lot of good points in this well written article.

the ending might be added to a little, to give it that finalization.

if you read the last paragraph, you might see that it seems like it is going to continue, but stops abruptly. it needs to be tied together. i hope you don't mind the advice. i hope you keep writing, you have a great style. thanks for sharing,

best regards,

sue thom
