I have to admit that I had not been excited about the election until Sarah Palin came on the scene. And yes, I have read the very disturbing reports about her looks, her participation in beauty pageants, her "folksy" language and other name calling that has happened in blogs and the msm, but I'm still a fan. Why? Because Sarah Palin shares my values. And last night just confirmed that for me.
Sarah Palin is not only concerned about national security, she shares John McCain's plan for victory in Iraq that can only lead to stabilization in the Middle East. This is something that I do not believe the democrats will be able to secure if they win the presidential election. Sarah Palin not only believes in reform for Wall Street and Washington, she already has a proven track record as the Governor of Alaska. This executive experience is something that none of the other presidential/vp candidates share. And Sarah Palin is a Washington outsider. It is difficult for me to believe that the democratic ticket will bring any change when they have not been able to do it in Joe Biden's 30 years as a senator and Barack Obama's 3 years as a senator, 2 during a time when the leadership of the house and the senate are from their own party.
The topic in the debate that really hit home for me was personal responsibility. Too many politicians at the local, state and federal levels base their platform on the government's ability to take care of us. That is not the government's responsibility. So I'm hoping that some changes will occur that will encourage more folks to work, start businesses and find affordable healthcare, all things that are not only good for the individual but also will improve the financial health of the country.
So now I'm excited. I will vote for the McCain/Palin ticket because I believe that they will continue to keep our country safe and Sarah Palin will actively work to bring change to Washington that could lead to more economic stability and lower taxes. And because she unapologetically speaks my language.
