How to make a cake.

Sometime we are wonder if we can make a cake, if we can have the patience or the art to do and decorate a cake, and how wonderful it will be if we can make a cake for our self or for our kids or for that special person in our lives.

I will said to you yes, you can. And now you can think, of course I can!, I can get a box of cake mix, follow the instruction and do it. Yes, you can do that too, is nothing wrong with that and they taste very good and quick to do.

Now I want to take you to a more serious thinking; what if you make a cake from scratch, using and knowing all the ingredients and amount of the ingredients that a cake have. Did you have any idea of the ingredients?, What about the amount of the flour?, or how many eggs?.

We take for granted this question, but do we know if that affect us?, if we are allergic to any of the ingredients?

When you make a cake from scratch you can answer all this question, you know what you are using and how healthy it will be for you and your family, and all the ingredients involved.

Now that you have all this information, I want you to make this Vanilla Cake Recipe from scratch, it is a good and easy to do, follow all the instruction, step by step, and you will have your price at the end, please let me know an the end how it was for you, and how you feel with your results.

Vanilla Cake recipe

(All the ingredients most be at room temperature)

1# margarine or butter

3 cups of sugar

2 tsp vanilla extract (no imitation)

10 medium eggs (put 2 egg white apart)

4 1/2 cups self rising flour

1 1/2 regular milk

vegetable shortening (to grease the pan)

Two 10" round cake pan or one 11" x 15" sheet

Instruction:

  • Grease the cake pans inside with shortening.
  • Add about 2 tbs flour inside the pan and shake it, be sure to cover all the inside.
  • Turn the pan upside down and tap to take the excess of flour out.

  • In a mixer add butter and creamed.

  • Add sugar gradually and mix well, be sure that is soft and creme, do this for 20 min.

  • Add vanilla and keep creaming.
  • Add eggs one by one, and mix for 1 min each time.
  • Preheat oven to 325 degree.
  • Sift flour.
  • Add flour to the mix a little bit at the time, alternating with the milk, be sure you start with flour and end with flour. Be careful to not over mix.

  • Add the mix to a pans.
  • Bake for 55 to 60 min, insert a tooth pic in the middle of the cake. If it comes clean the cake is done.
  • Let the cake cool of for 10 minutes. Run a thin knife between the cake and the sides of the pan.
  • Flip the cake and put in on a board. Let it cool at least an hour prior to icing.
  • Enjoy your first cake from scratch!
