Having a swimming pool in your backyard can provide you and your family with hours of fun and recreation every year. However, backyard pools can also pose several dangers and safety risks, particularly for children and pets. That's why it's important for pool owners to make sure that certain steps are taken to ensure the safety of swimming pool areas. During the winter, the best way to secure a pool and prevent drownings and other accidents is to use a safety pool cover. Solid safety pool covers are one of the most popular choices for pool owners because they help to keep the pool clean during the winter in addition to providing a high level of safety and security.

In-ground solid pool safety covers are constructed from durable materials to provide exceptional strength and protection. For example, some solid pool covers are made from woven polyethylene material and feature a high-strength fabric coating which enhances the cover's durability and resistance. These swimming pool covers may also be reinforced with a strong polyester scrim to maximize their protective capabilities. The special straps used to secure solid pool safety covers are strategically placed, in some cases providing the covers with a break strength of approximately 4000 pounds. Naturally, such strength is a very important safety feature, as it will prevent people and animals from accidentally falling into the swimming pool.

Of course, the durability and special construction of solid safety pool covers are also highly beneficial in terms of swimming pool maintenance. In particular, solid pool safety covers prevent fine particles from entering the pool and completely block sunlight. This means that the pool will be free from dirt accumulation and algae growth. As a result, the pool and its water will remain clean throughout the winter, making spring openings a breeze.

If you're considering a purchase of solid pool safety covers, there are typically two types to choose from with regards to how standing water is removed from the cover. Namely, in-ground solid pool covers are available either with a center drain or with a cover pump. Solid safety pool covers with a center drain have square mesh panels located near the center of the cover, which allow standing water to drain through the material and into the swimming pool. At the same time, leaves and other debris remain on top of the cover and will eventually dry and blow away on their own. On the other hand, solid pool covers with cover pumps do not have mesh panels. Instead, these covers come with an automatic pump. When springtime arrives, the pump can be used to easily remove any standing water prior to taking off the cover.

The great thing about solid safety pool covers is that they can be custom built to fit pools of just about any size or shape. A variety of standard shapes and sizes are also available. These solid swimming pool covers are then held in place by non-corrosive brass fastenings which will recess flush with the pool deck after the cover is removed so they won't create an eyesore or safety hazard. These brass anchors not only prevent people, animals or debris from entering the swimming pool, they also prevent the covers from coming loose or blowing away. As a result, when solid pool covers are properly installed, they provide very reliable security and protection.

Furthermore, due to the way that solid pool safety covers fit and are fastened to swimming pools, they help to make pool areas very pleasing in appearance. They're also extremely convenient as they require little to no maintenance during the winter and are very easy to put on and take off. Despite their strength and durability, solid swimming pool covers are often surprisingly lightweight and easy to handle, making them an even more attractive option for pool owners looking for an effective way to protect their swimming pool as well as their family and pets.

Although you may think initially that solid safety pool covers are likely too expensive to be a real option, that's not actually the case. In fact, considering the exceptional durability of these covers and the outstanding protection and security that they provide, in-ground solid pool covers tend to be a better investment in the long run as compared to standard winter pool covers. Moreover, high quality solid pool covers are available from respected discount retailers such as Intheswim.com, where great products can be found for great value.

Considering the incredible strength of solid safety swimming pool covers, they are certainly one of the best options available for securing swimming pools for the winter and preventing accidents and tragedies. The fact that these covers also keep pools free of dirt and algae during winter months further enhances their appeal and utility. So for maximized safety and pool maintenance, solid safety pool covers are an excellent choice.
