Subject: Spiritual healing Question: I have been suffering from debilitating depression for many years. Do you have any insight into how I can clear this up as I am at a very low point at the moment. I have tried alternative therapies, drugs, etc but nothing has helped. I also have problems with my eyes. I cannot read anymore or watch television without suffering immense pain behind my eyes. I think my Ophthamologist has given up on me. Please help. Do I have spirits helping me and what are there names. Sorry I am so desperate. Thanks a lot xxxx.
Answer: xxxx
Thank you for blessing me by giving me the opportunity to reply.
Depression is two sided in my opinion and experience. There is clinical depression which is caused by chemical imbalances within the brain. Then there is also what I call a spiritual bankruptcy depression. They go hand in hand many times but not always. I always advocate a person seek out professional medical help in addition to adding any of the suggestions that I make. I can not stress enough to you to seek a neurologist and/or psychotherapist to monitor and help you get to a place you can function.
The part I can help you with is working on what I call spiritual bankruptcy. Many times in a persons life they must hit what has been termed a bankruptcy or rock bottom place in order for a person to turn to spiritual solutions. I know this to be true for myself. In 1996 I hit a rock bottom that was so hard, so devastating and so debilitating that I could only see suicide as a solution. So I understand the emotional place you are in.
The first question I have for you is what in your life is unacceptable to you? Consider for a moment that the depression is a result or a symptom if you will of what is really wrong. What else in your life past present or future is unacceptable?
In searching for the answer to this question my second suggestion is starting a journal to record the answer to the first question in. Each day spend 10-15 minutes writing down what came to mind that was unacceptable. What happened that caused you to have emotions good and bad.
See in dealing with spiritual depression one needs to find the root cause of the depression before they can find a solution to the problem. I read a book recently that was one of the most amazing books I have ever read (and pray one day I am blessed to meet and thank the author). the book is called Life Shift by Aleta St. James. It is one of the first books written for woman, by a woman that is about woman. It gives you specific tools to learn and use in daily life to change your life. It may be worth you purchasing. If you just can not handle reading yet, go to the library and get Louise Hay's You Can Heal Your Life on CD and listen to it.
I know that you said your eyes are bothering you to the point that they are causing you immense pain. My feeling is that it is not a physiological problem causing this pain. But rather something to do with your depressive state. This may be why the ophthalmologist is unsure how to proceed and is also why I suggest seeing a neurologist.
It is my unwavering faith that each and every one of us have spirit guides helping us. Be it you call them Guardian Angels Micheal, Raphael, Uriel, and Gabriel. Or you call them White Wolf or Isis. For me the fact remains that they are there, available to help and guide us and even comfort us. I will not give you a name for the sake of a name. To be honest at the moment I am not getting a particular name. What I am seeing is a pinkish white light - almost like a cloud surrounding you. Is this a spirit guide or is it the a symbol of unconditional love of the Divine I am not sure.
I will promise you this (as it has never failed me personally) if you go into meditation and ask the Divine to reveal your guide, give you direction, offer you comfort while you learn to stand back up - they will and you will know where the help is coming from deep within you.
Once you spend a week or so writing in your journal let me know what you came up with and I will help you filter through it and find the next step. until then know that I have added you to my prayer warriors list.
