In these troubling times one would think Credit Reporting would be an extremely important issue that just may help get this economy moving for some? Well think again you who don't know what I am talking about, never bothered to look into it when you were denied something, are paying more for your Homeowners or Auto Insurance or have been denied. No why bother? It's just the times, right? Well think hard and think again. We just lost out for two points. Yes two points with a bank we have been with for 30 years. That is what it is all about. I wrote to this before with little fanfare or reader interest and I don;t expect any this time either. yet with "Credit" an issue I thought I'd get it our there again.
These leaders you like talk about freeing up credit and many don't and really can't even read between the lines, for who? Well frankly in my opinion like I just said I do not think many can and it hurts to say that but I truly believe that. Words can be used in many ways and have many meanings and if you can't understand how, why and when they are used you really can't comprehend correctly. If so then you perceive perhaps something that later on they will say "I never said that". Ever hear that before?
Well of course I'll also admit there are always those who never have a problem.The world is a rose garden for them, yea right. In my opinion they just never feel the effects, not that there might not be a problem. Possible, not probable for most.
Now here is the truth, facts, what it is. Oh I'm sorry there I go again with my negative writing. You see I write because I just thought you might have an interest in what your report says or doesn't? Especially in these hard times.
First, you must understand this because it is that critical, you are at the mercy of those who report to these agencies. The agencies are an offshoot that they created. Just like the Health Care Data Base. Yes your friendly banker, your credit lender, mortgage holder, etc. They can say what they want to say and you have little say. In fact you have to, and here is the KEY, try to get it rectified, if it is wrong and most likely it is.
Now just today I tried again with all three agencies to rectify wrong information. To understand this is not a one time try. The process, in my opinion of course, doesn't work and that is by personal by experience. Can't get them on the phone, Internet and mail, well even if you get a reply it is usually useless. Someone offshore who is looking at your confidential information. So getting back to the gist of the article,wrong, incorrect information on all three agency reports, non updated items, etc. Not a single item, that is fairly easy, no multiple items. Their excuse, get this "we rely on, you know who, the creditor and banks to provide accurate information". Ok end of story, excuse me while I stop choking, period, you lose. Think about it and hard. That is if you want to think about what I am alluding to?
What am I talking about? Well here are some examples.
On my child's report they have my dad's information. Same first and last name, different middle initial, of course they have different birth dates, social security numbers, addresses and one is alive and one dead five years. Does that matter? Evidently not? They don't even understand this when you talk to them. They will write the creditor because they get this and as I previously said, "Only collect the information".
On my wife's report, wrong credit information, wrong employer information. Then they give you a dispute option. Select one from the drop down. Well none matches and you have no other alternative. Click out and they close the report and unless you buy, you can't get it again.
On and on for each of us, wrong, not ours, incorrect. Oh, would you like to buy our service, for what? Protect who? You can't protect me or mine so just what are you selling that you want me to pay for, mediocrity, irresponsibility, misinformation, what?
You see if you said that up front you'd get many more customers because people, in my opinion the vast majority of Americans, really do not care. They only care about the facade, the Easter Bunny, the wrapper. They don't expect much less nor do they demand more then that.
Ok so here is the kicker. I call the state to complain. Remember now what state I am in. You know here the Sun is always shinning but evidently just not in government. Oh, call the Department of Finances. Call them, oh we do not handle that. Get the message? Call the Attorney general, oh you have to we don't and an attitude of why are you calling me. I thought you represent me, a citizen and consumer, sorry I bothered you. Now I finally get the Fair Trade Commission. Yes we will open a complaint. Great, what happens with that complaint? We keep it in our data base for law enforcements use. Do you write or contact the company? No, we just hold the data in case someone wants to do something about it. How frequent is that, occasionally, every once in a while. Whew, I though it never got looked at, I feel much better now.
So my fellow Americans, welcome to the state of the nation and welcome to credit. Yes we want to free up credit. Yes you do, and many buy that, hook, line and sinker. I really need to consider being crooked because there is a fortune to be made screwing people. Yes and they even thank you for it, smile and shake your hand and speak wonderful of you. Yes all I need to do is show up at church, profess to be, smile, look and speak well and I got it made. Maybe a phony degree on the wall telling everyone how smart I am, yes a Masters will do, no need to go for the Doctorate. God forbid they hear facts, truth, reality, they want to lynch you.
Yes it is America today. Shoot the messenger. Yes what will that bring? The truth will not go away and "that's a fact Jack" as the line in the movie goes. Yet I am leaning more towards that other great movie line "stupid sees, stupid does". In my opinion, of course, it kind of sums up this election.
