How important is the truth in business? You probably just answered in your mind that the truth is very important in business. Did you know that there are two types of truth in the business world?

The first type of truth is the one that we are all familiar with; it could probably be termed courtroom truth; the kind of truth that is nothing more than fact and defines our character.

You can argue that the truth is exaggerated, but that puts us in the realm of another type of truth, a truth that is trait of entrepreneurs. It could be termed vision truth. The reason it could be called vision truth is because it is a natural extension of being an entrepreneur.

Man will someday fly. Man will walk on the moon. Oceans will be crossed in hours, not days. These statements may seem trite to you, but at one time they were viewed as ridiculous, exaggerated, or far from the truth.

At this time, they are taken for granted and discarded. In more recent times, we've witnessed the weaving of the computer age into our lives. The phrase, a computer on every desk, seemed far-fetched. Computers which talk seemed very far off.

These were truths spoken by entrepreneurs who could clearly see the future, perhaps hard to believe at the time of their mention, but truths yet to be realized.

This is the other type of truth. Not just the truth that shapes the future of the day, decade, or century, but truths which shapes the direction of mankind. True entrepreneurs have such a clear vision of the truth (future) that snide comments are pushed aside while the visionary entrepreneur moves ahead to embed his truth into society.

Richard Branson and Bill Gates speak a truth that is heard by billions of people. Walt Disney had a vision so strong that the truth about Mickey Mouse is undeniable, especially to a child.

It was this child-like dreaming that matured into vision and became truth to be unveiled to the rest of the world.

The truth should be spoken and the truth of your entrepreneurial vision must be defined in order for the rest of us to embrace it as t.r.u.t.h.
