Ok lets get down to the real nitty gritty, no holds barred reality of why we are in the mess we are in. We have discarded and cast aside the warnings of the founding fathers not to meddle in the affairs of Europe and the world. The answer to that given by these Globalists is that it is our duty, we are required, we are obligated as a great power, we must and we cannot become isolationists. However to take those statements and blatantly, unashamedly and without concern take this nations industrial and economic might and scatter it to the four winds without so much as a concern for the citizens of this nation is beyond comprehension.

Yes we have meddled in the affairs of the world and we are suffering immensely for it. The world never could, yes even with all their ancient knowledge, all their great educational systems, all their capabilities and educated do what this nation has because simply they are not Free Republics, of the People By the People and solely For the People. It is that simple my friends.

This nation founded on principals NO OTHER has ever been before. Yes even ancient Greece which was as close as any would ever be and the model. No, in this modern age those that call themselves Democracies are in effect Socialistic systems with attributes of democratic functionality. They are what we have just transitioned to a Social Democracy.

So because we have not listened to our forefathers and we have become embroiled in the affairs of foreign nations we are entwined in all they are. We have in effect had to take sides against people and in the end drew the wrath of one group or another and eventually hatred. What it all boiled down to was Mind Your Own Business.

Now those in power have always sought after a relationship with these nations under the guise of trade. Trade, yes but fair and equal trade. Regardless of what they profess we WERE once a self sufficient independent nation, which is no more. That is so critical to my writings and your understanding because many truly believe we are still a Super Power in all things. Frankly we fit closer to the description of Third World nation.

We have sufficient coal, oil and natural reserves to be independent. We chose to give it away. Not us, our leaders. They have given away our money, our might, industry, technology, engineering, military secrets, manufacturing, yes, all given away freely. Handed over to the world and yes even our sworn enemies for Free Enterprise, open markets, and money and We the People killed us as well. We killed our nation and We the People, through greed are still killing this nation by supporting they that do and did this, every single one of them, fact. Few to none standing for the Principals this nation was founded on. Yes easy to profess not backed by deeds, works. In fact the opposite prevails time after time. Just check the record.

Their works, Comprehensive Immigration and sin and the breaking of law. Foreclosures and financial ruin founded on lies and usury and still YOU VOTE FOR THEM. Yes you who do and you who do nothing and who give them the power to vote for you.

We say we are a religious people, believers and I say in word only. Cheating, lying, self interests, a lack of compassion, understanding, care, and yes love and on and on and on wrapped in arrogance, four letter words, dress, movies, the bird sign and any number of things that say who we have become as a nation. That speak to our nations character. Wrong, well how can 94% of you say you dislike these leaders but do the opposite and vote for them? No the only honest people are those who say they like them, that 6%. They know exactly why they like them and it has nothing to do with people. No not as believers, just their outward expressions and an Easter Bunny core. Owning for themselves and leaning toward any doctrine that satisfies their self needs and individual beliefs.

In my opinion we have reaped what we have sowed and continue to sow and it is not over by a long shot. Sure some will say prosperity is just around the corner and I agree, for them. But no jobs, no pay, etc, etc, etc, not their problem. No, until America and we all as a nation and people humble ourselves, yes you, me and us all before the God we profess and acknowledge, our pride, arrogance, sin, we will suffer. We will suffer at our own hands, as a house, a house without personal responsibility, that many like to throw out while excluding themselves.

So Why are we obligated to spread our wealth to the world? The answer is a definite and resounding no, we are not obligated. The answer as a Christian nation, which another writer so accurately pointed out, as a religious nation, founded that all men shall be able to worship their God or not, freely, without duress is that we should as a rich and powerful nation demonstrate the acts of mercy and compassion that We the People have and do. For those who need the necessities and basics of life. That is not hand them our wealth but assist them through a fair, just and even relationship of mutual respect. Until that is established we owe nothing to no one but humanitarian help, compassion and understanding. We do not owe them our future.

Sorry, it is about time we woke up to reality a man is a man and a woman a woman not by race, gender, the clothes they wear, their words but by the fruits of their labor and works. You who defend voting on anything other then that are the real hypocrites the real racist because you dishonor the man or woman you vote for. You give them no credit as human beings and in effect you demean that very race or gender by voting for that reason only. This is the stumbling block that all America has to overcome.

Vote on their works not hollow promises or race, gender or anything else but what they do or fail to do. Until we do that then there will continue to be a separation of races, religions and gender, there will not be equality, there will not be a Union but a facade. It is  made and continued sadly by the very ones who despise it and call others by it.

This election more then ever is all about America and Americans. Yet in my opinion we have lost this nation and many do not even know it. Yes better I am wrong, gladly wrong. Yet the signs and symbols and truths are too many to overlook. That is for the person who still retains those values and attributes we consider important to decide if I what i say wrings true for them. After all it is all about choice.

Respectfully,

I agree with a lot that you say; well done on a concise article on the downfall of American greed but just looking at the title of the article: you are not obligated to spread your wealth to the world - nobody asked you to. Neither is Britain or any other country obligated to spread their wealth to America! It must not be forgotten that other countries that America have serious wealth yet have suffered at the hands of American greed and let it not be forgotten that Americans have serious poverty in large areas! I may be rambling but let not America for one moment try and blame the rest of the world for what has happened! This crisis started in America and America alone - and now America will look to the rest of the world to solve it! So in answer to the headline question: you are not obligated, nobody asked you to! But you better because you got us all into this in the first place! Oh, and once this is sorted please dear America, withdraw into yourselves and become self-sufficient - we ask for nothing more!

Leuan you are right it started in America at the very top and with people who had and have a Global agenda and at the expense of their very own. No denying that. However, in your comments and those I receive I find it strange many cannot hone up to the real truth, facts  of it all. The bottom line.  The world accepts all we offer and give plus and always wants more. Our jobs, our money, our investment our industry and yes many even migrate here leaving their own nations. Now we want you to invest in us. Give us a break, its our money, wealth, jobs, you have. Open your eyes, who do you think owns these large multi nationals you work for, the people on the brochures?  The sad fact is without American dollars, American blood, American tears, The world as bad as it is, would have collapsed long time ago if left to their own devises, fact, just check out history. Thanks for the reply and reading but it is about time we took it all back and yes stopped lookinga cross the sea but worried about our own. We have helped long enough.

Thanks for the reply! Your reply confirms to me the heart of the whole problem facing the world now - that Americans presume that they are the center of the world, that without them the rest of the world would collapse!

I'm very sorry to interrupt you but there are many very successful countries and economies out there! America is not the heart and soul of the world and as far as history goes have you forgotten such things like the British Empire, the French Colonies, the Chinese Empires, the Russian Empire???? Or are you referring simply to modern history, say over the last 100 years?

But without getting into pernickety detail; Americans are often hated abroad for their constant ability to think that they are the center of the world and for their inability to listen to others! A good leader listens - America has never listened to the rest of the world!

And those conglomerates you say we work for - have you checked your own books lately? Most of them are owned by Arabian nights and foreign companies! And also your conglomerates that you speak of often have Scotsmen at the helm??????

Nobody ever asked America to enter Iraq. Nobody ever asked America to enter Vietnam, nobody ever asked America to Enter Haiti, Nobody ever asked America to enter Afghanistan ................... nobody ever asked America yet she intervened with American blood and American tears to promolgate oil superiority and in the case of Vietnam to spur the American economy out of an impending recesssion!

I'm here now in America! I have spent the last ten days talking to red-blooded grassroots Americans (the ones who toil the land) and most of them state quite clearly that Americas current problems are home grown and not caused by the rest of the world. So Sir! This is quite a turn around for many, a realisation perhaps that the world doesn't revolve around Washington DC!

So we could argue for days over this and not get anywhere! All I am trying to say is that America can do whatever it likes but please don't try and say that it has anything to do with the rest of the world! We have nothing at all to do with what is happening in your country - this is a homegrown problem formed out of globilisation on a fast track that has caused knock-on effects to reverberate around the world - that is all!

Leaun, argue no, provide feedback yes. You speak of the past. Great powers and civilizations all, but of history and not pertinent today concerning this day and age. Great Britain, a shell of its former self, France, and the rest of those nations that held "colonies" not what they once were. Russia a nothing until she fell and our dollars built her up. Modern era, a few to none. You proved my point exactly, why can't they do it without us? Maybe now after we have been dismantled? No answer from you only one line comments about how you don't want us. Yes Arabian owners, but our money, technology and investment dollars. Iraq, I have to say we as a people were mislead as you were by your very own but it is better to pass the buck and blame us. Haiti, give me a break the most poor nation on earth. What the hell does Haiti have to offer anyone but debt and misery? So if your separating Washington Politicians from average Americans you have no argument from me. However, you left out a hell of a lot in between didn't you. Hey why admit or speak to facts better just to through darts. Perhaps you really don't know the truth but only what you have been fed and digested? You know indoctrination? Why are you here, visit, work, job, education or just killing time?  Why come to such a terrible place? Yet you seem to lump all of us into your response.  You casually throw away what our tax dollars have done for you and this world over and over again, fact.,Sorry those who know our sacrifice understand it well in the the Cemetaries of Europe and Asia and in the reconstruction of thier cities and still we are hated. Hated for what? For we have, or I should say had. Sadly you would rather evidently attack all Americans then grasp the truth and real facts. As for toil the land, your comment smarts that anything less is not noble or honest work. This is a Global society brought about by those in Washington of wealth and your own leaders and the world leaders not of any average people. Set up and established by American capital and business. Yes and in your very own nation you have the very same situation caused by these world problems, foreclosures, layoffs and all. Your imbilical cord is attached to us like it or not and that is why your leaders are scrambling for more of OUR TAX MONEY to bail them out. That is to save your very jobs and future.  Sorry, you are are right no amount of common sense will ever change your thinking. NO, we Americans have given and given and given and are still giving and you espouse we are the arrogant and proud ones. How very sad and it is you who support this article more then you will ever know.  Us, me, no, in my opinion you need to take a good look in the mirror, you just might find you have things wrong in mnay ways.  Respectfully,

Wow! Anyway hoo - my name is Ieuan not Leuan!

But there we go!

For twenty-five years I have travelled the world from Tuvalu to Hawaii, Durban to Rejkavik! I have suffered earthquackes, pirate attacks and hurricanes and every step of the way I have listened to those who have something to say! I have helped those in desperate need and I have been arrested and imprisoned on charges I still can't translate, I was chased out of papau new guinea by a machete weilding madman and welcomed with open arms into Taiwan! I have reached far and wide and I constantly learn as I go and today I have learnt just that little bit more.

Thank you!

Your great on the attack. My apologies I placed a Capital letter in your first name. YOur correction is appreciated. It seems you failed to answer anything I have asked or stated. I would assume you are a professional problem.  Never in one place solving anything. By the way while we are evidently correcting, in America we spell Earthquakes. "earthquackes and we start a first name with a capital. Am I to learn your language and culture now? As for learnt"  who knows? Rhetorically I do not get the impression you do to well at listening and comprehension but as I said are quick to attack. Now I sense your heart is probably to set the world straight for the good of all. That is a noble endeavor but once again with your view, your perspective. It seems you have the monetary means or backing to travel as you do? Without trying to be offensive I would suggest you look at the underlying aspects that are happening throughout this world. It has nothing to do with the  the poor, the people and everything to do with the wealthy and powerful. Follow the money and you may understand what I am talking about? In fact if your using your money to travel I venture to say you are invested in the very same ones you might oppose. How odd? Yet if not your money, whose?
PS: I will not respond any longer since you persist on not being open to discussion but imposing your opinion on me.

Your opening paragraph struck me immediately. I can empathise with your concerns. However, the one thing that really came to me when reading your article was that you must bare in mind where America's routes lie. America is only a very new country; it has its origins in Europe, Asia, Australia, amongst many other continents. We cannot turn our back on each other - what good will that do to international relations? We must not disregard History.

Sara, excellent thought. No, let us not forget, that is most important that we are a nation made up of many nations. Yes and not turn our backs or close the doors but establish relationships that respect and are open and fair for the good of all, for both nations or all who enter in friendship. Yet we must also keep in mind why they left their homes? Our wealth gone, scattered, we are now embroiled in wars and rumors of wars, economic disasters and bailouts of foreign banks and nations and their citizens with our money and our children's future. Just when do we worry about us first? Is not our first responsibility at home? Sadly this is what I write to. I write for your children's sake, mine and theirs. In fact we have been so successful in destroying our infrastructure it will be a long time before we can reestablish it, if ever. This is the reality of today Sara, the facts. So is it time to let the rest of the world carry their own weight and stop the handouts.  Yes just when do other nations  when they offer friendship and the olive branch apply it mutually and share equally? The answer sadly none to a few. The answer is in Washington even as we speak. They come to us for more.  Best wishes and thanks for reading and commenting.

Okay! But again with regard to my name it is not about capital letters it is about 'I' as in India not 'L' as in Lima! To answer your questions - to-whit you refer I don't answer - travel is born from necessity to earn a living - a seafarer this I used to be for over 30yrs - an honest trade if somewhat displaced and now higher up the ladder I have climbed!

Anyway! It matters not as you don't seem to want to listen to others opinions!

Carry on the writing though - I will still read as I'm sure you can't stop me doing that as well?

Meanwhile I will leave Houston and make my merry way across the Atlantic back home - a bitter pill have I swallowed!

Well ieuan as in India, I'm sorry you feel that way and I said I wouldn't respond but I will one last time becuase I see you as a decent person. Understand I write for all poor and needy and average and exploited  people no matter where they are.Howerv, I do not hold back the truth to be politically correct. For that I suffer as well. Yet I would be the hipocrite to saccrifice truth for popularity. I am open to disagreement and correctio when it is of substance and fact.  We should all be open to others information and reasoning. Actually, we most likely think alike on many issues and on otherswe can agree to disagree. Sadly, you are the confirmation of what I am saying. Americans do not think like the world and that is why even while hated most want to come or take what we have, fact. yes and for all the intelligence of the world they nevr seem to udnerstand Republic and Of the People. That concept alludes them for all that intelligence.  It really is that simple. If I may suggest perhaps if you have not already you read our forefathers works, the Preamble and our Consitution and look for the words, General Welfare, posterity. No nation does a service to its citizens unless those citizens are placed first above all others. Have a safe voyage and journey home or to whereever you are heading and thanks for answering my question. Go in peace. My apologives if my directness offended you. My zeal for this nation sometimes may come across in a manner not as gentile as I would like it to and a believer it should. For that I ask yours and Gods forgiveness. .

Why should you be bullied into doing that, Ieuan? You need more Pete Seeger in your life, "This land is your land, this land is my land, from California, to the New York Island."

"a man is a man and a woman a woman not by race, gender, the clothes they wear, their words but by the fruits of their labor and works."

Nice, thought provoking article. Yet, there is a certain arrogance in implying that by voting for a man of color, that man does not have works to show, or that his works are unworthy of the office.

In most cases I think you are on the money, especially with regard to a return to reliance on America's own wealth, oil, gas, natural resources. Why do we sell it, only to buy the same from OPEC?

However, you might be over reaching when you equate America (and America is a misappropriated term, since it also properly includes Canada, Mexico, and all points south!) as the benevolent big brother that all the poor nations of the world rely upon. In many cases, perhaps most, the U.S. strong-armed its way into a mutual commercial relationship. Japan, China, Vietnam, Iraq, the Phillipines. Even our own Continental land-grab was a debauchery, yet in every case there are apologists who shrug it off, "oh, that was so long ago, it doesn't matter now." Yet, it was that "long ago" that led to the very criticisms you pose in your interesting article.

I would have to say that on most points I'm in agreement with our friend Ieuan (isn't that a Scottish name, Ieuan, a variation on Ian..Juan, John, etc? I like it), except, of course, that he misspelled Earthquake! Unforgivable, and wholly un-American (er, I mean, un-USA-an).

Gregory, I appreciate your comments but I suspect it gets to the heart of  perhaps me not expressing it correctly?  I was speaking to those who vote only for a person because of their color, race, sex, etc and nothing else and no I am voting for someone who the last time I looked he was still a black MAN and I really need not the black descriptor. Does he have faults yes, but many more pluses when it come to integrity. I know exactly what he stands for. I can't say the same for any of the party candidates. As for your reference to America. You are somewhat correct in use and yet you should at least allow that while the American Continent is divided north and south  we are known and recognize as "America" and we are referred to as such by many. Yet, I technically you are correct.  Now I have to agree the intent of the article was that we should not be sticking our two sense into the worlds problems. We should have free open and fair trade but that is not the intent of Globalists whose dream is to spread the free enterprise market system to the world. That is why we are embroiled the way we are. Now notice that while many who say they are democracies are in reality Socialist Systems already, hence we are converting.  As for correcting me I may have over reacted.  I was just pointing out that when one throws a stone they should be prepared for one back. Hey I'll accept yours. No excuses my humanity was showing that morning. And I will accept your ending in the spirit of humanity as well. Have a great day, thanks for reading you comments appreciated.
