If you think that obesity is something to be treated lightly, you might want to think again. Obesity is spreading like wildfire across the face of the earth. There is not a nation or culture that is not affected by obesity.
Today obesity is an epidemic.
To be obese is to have too much weight in the form of fat on the body.
Bones and joints struggle and strain under a weight they were never designed to carry. The excess weight may lead to numerous problems in the future. It becomes a vicious cycle, the extra weight makes exercise difficult. With the lack of exercise the body cant use up the food that is eaten, and more weight is put on as a result.
The excess weight and little or not enough exercise cause a deterioration in heart function, a rise in blood pressure, increase in cholesterol levels, narrowing of the blood vessels, and of course things like strokes and heart attacks follow.
Apnea is a condition where breathing stops while the person is asleep.
It is a very frightening and dangerous malady. It can be caused by obesity, and is just one of the many sidekicks of this modern epidemic of obesity.
The medical profession is making a great effort to treat this modern outbreak of obesity. The disease of obesity can be cured, but treatment requires effort. It is not a matter of a quick fix. In order to beat obesity one has to put in the work, and stay focused. Remember, keep the goal in view. Think about having a normal lifestyle, without the worry of obesity related diseases in your future. It is not easy to cure obesity, but it can be done. Dont let it ruin your life. Prevention is always better than cure, but even if you are already in the clutches of this condition, you are not too late to do something about it.
If you have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or over, then you are classified as "obese".
The body mass index is a taken from a scale of the persons weight in relation to their height. This scale was developed by Adolphe Quetelet in 1840.
The BMI tells the fat one has stored in ones body. Of course the more fat one is carrying, the more prone one is to particular diseases and conditions.
Check your BMI now.You can get advice from your doctor, or one of the many reputable organizations that deal with weight problems.
It is not just a lower quality of life now, but having a high BMI means problems to come. The future will be filled with the cronies of obesity.
Some preventable fatal diseases use obesity as a way in. The common ones of stroke and heart attack just love obesity. It creates exactly the right conditions to allow them to strike, and they do.
Dont let obesity ruin your life.

Thank you for reminding us of the dangers of obesity. It is so easy in our stressful lives to reflect and think about what we are doing to our bodies. I have worked hard in the last year to cut down on the cholesterol, get more exercise and lose weight. It isn't easy. Lighter you get, harder it gets! This is an excellent article Joseph. I look forward to reading some more of your work.
Thank you Joseph for this informative important article -- obesity is rampant especially among the young and it's not good -- I hope everyone reads your article. Good job!

Fantastic article! Well written and good information! I am always concerned about my friends that are over weight or don't exercise. I have a routine where exercise is first on my "To Do" List. Good Job!
Thanks Kim. Its one of those conditions that can creep up on people. I think when one is aware that there is less chance of it getting out of hand. I think you are right to keep it in check with your routine.
