The versatility of tableware has made it a very popular choice in wedding lists for a long time. As newlyweds starting a life together in a new home, tableware is the perfect wedding gift. It will definitely help complete your household items and you will be able to save some money for other things that you did not receive as wedding gifts.

There are many choices of tableware pieces available in the market today. There are varieties of designs to choose from, such as generic, contemporary, classic and even vintage designs. Choosing the right tableware pieces and design is very important. The design should be timeless, and yet each tableware pieces should be practical. Choose a range of tableware that would be used every day but also think of some of the unusual pieces you have always wanted and include those on your wedding list as well.

Those pieces might include:-

gravy boat, soup bowls, pasta bowls, noodle bowls, rice bowls, and many other specialty items.

Some tableware brands come with matching cutlery, so you might want to consider those because it is relatively inexpensive to buy matching cutlery than getting them separately.

Before choosing the tableware, you should pay attention to the after sale services offered by the manufacturers. Certain tableware brands offer warranties and this is beneficial, should any of the pieces not last as long as the manufacturer claims. Some tableware manufacturers have customer database, where you can register your purchases and keep a record of the tableware range you have bought. These can be extremely useful in the event of dropping one of your treasured plates and then trying to find a matching replacement.

Always check whether tableware pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe. They should also be able to stand extreme hot or cold temperatures, especially if they are to be used in the oven, fridge or freezer. Pottery decorated with metallic paint should not be used in microwave or dishwasher, and glassware made of lead crystal should not be washed in a dishwasher as the detergent may cause it to lose its shine.

Depending on your needs, you can choose tableware for formal or casual occasions. Even though your are just staring out in married life think about all the different kind of occassions that lie ahead for you such as dinner parties, family gatherings and seasonal occasions such as Easter and Christmas. During these occasions, you will need a wide range of tableware to serve the many guests. For formal affairs, choose designer or customised dinnerware, along with beautiful silverware cutlery and pretty glassware. Essential pieces that should be included are basic dinnerware items such as serving plates and bowls, full cutlery sets, and glassware such as red and white wine glasses, tumblers and a water jug.

Choosing the right table and dinnerware as part of a wedding list will ensure you have pieces that will last a very long time. It is good to invest in practical and versatile tableware pieces that will last rather than buying cheap pieces that may cost more to replace in the long term. High quality, beautifully designed pieces are not only valuable but they are great conversation starters.
