Hardwood flooring is one of the most popular items being used to replace wore-down, stained wall to wall carpeting.  Hardwood floors suit many styles whether it be elegance or rustic. The floors are easy to clean, and durable, though they may show wear patterns and scratches if not cared for.

Scratching is one of the worst things that can happen to hardwood floors.  It could be something as simple as a piece of dirt on the bottom of your sock or shoe, pets walking on them, sliding your chair in and out from the dinner table, or heavy traffic in a specific area. How do you protect that hardwood floor from getting scratched because of everyday use without laying wall-to-wall carpeting over it? It's as simple as purchasing an oriental rug.

By using an oriental rug to cover your hardwood floor, you introduce style and protection in the same action. If you are looking for a more rustic look and feel to your room, an oriental rug can add to that as well.  With the different designs and color combinations available in handmade oriental rugs, the possibilities are endless.

Besides protecting your beautiful hardwood floors, handwoven oriental rugs are very durable and made to last so the normal wear and tear that most wall-to-wall carpets tend to show over time, will be minimized – after all, you can actually lift and clean an oriental carpet, which you cannot do with wall-to-wall carpet.

Since oriental carpets are movable, you can rearrange the furniture, and the oriental rug can move to compliment your new design in any room. Carpets can be placed where most needed, and rearranged as you move things to freshen up the appearance.

Let's face it, hardwood floors are just that, hard. They can also be cold in the winter. Placing an oriental rug in the middle of the floor can also offer some cushioning for sitting, or for bare feet, and an extra layer of insulation during cold winter months. They make a cozy environment for children to play and toddle on.

Oriental carpets are the perfect counterpoint and compensation for the disadvantages that hardwood floors introduce. With a combination of the lovely woodtones and elegance of hardwood floors, complimented by the warmth and lively patterns of an oriental carpet, you get the best balance of style and comfort.
