Do you have a stutter? Do you dream that one day you will be able to achieve a long lasting fluency? These were two questions that I would have most definitely answered yes to only a few years ago. In this article I will be writing about my own personal journey of attempting to find a solution to my most frustrating stutter.

Seemingly the only form of treatment for stuttering in the nineteen eighties and nineteen nineties was via what I call traditional speech therapists. This is probably why I continued to stutter throughout the majority of these decades. What do you mean? You might be asking. Well let's face it they are not much use or help to people who stutter. I ended up attending speech therapy for fully eighteen years, did it help me? Not one bit, in fact my stutter seemed to become even more severe the older I became.

To be fair to these speech therapists they did openly admit that they were not able to help me to attain my goal of achieving total as they did not believe that there was a cure for stuttering. So how come I have been fluent for the last thirteen years then?

There are five words to describe my experiences of speech therapy a complete waste of time.

At the age of twenty-two it was time to take the bull by the horns, I decided to attempt to formulate my own cure for stuttering. This was without doubt no easy task and I knew it wouldn't be. I was extremely determined and had a huge amount of support from my family, girlfriend and close friends. The reward was massive and therefore the effort and hours that I was willing to put in was also massive!

After just under a year I managed to fulfil my lifetime goal of achieving fluency. That was thirteen years ago and I am pleased to report that the fluency has stood the test of time.
