I am so disappointed, not just with the candidates getting ready to run our country, therefore, the mandates by which my family and I must live, but the bickering among people as to who's opinion is right. Right or wrong, it is our privilege to have our own opinion. In my opinion, neither of these men are the types of personalities or characters we need running our country, but we no longer have much of a choice. I will not give up my right to my opinion, I will be at the polls, not voting isn't an option. We all know what bad shape our beloved country is in, it's almost too much for one man to handle, which is why whomever is chosen will have many advisors. We won't ever know the half of what is talked about behind closed doors, only what they allow us to hear.

No one in the Washington circle, has to worry about gas prices being too high to fill their chauffeured cars or limos. None of these men or woman need to worry about how they're going to pay their mortgage, and utilities and have any money left for food. Sure, there may have been periods of time where they were like the normal individual, with the same worries and concerns, but those days are no longer. When they put their hands in their pockets, there is money there, and if not there, in their wallets. I can't say the same. In December, my health insurance will be canceled through divorce. I can't afford health insurance, and have pre existing problems, so the medications I take to feel better, which cost me 115.00, will now cost one thousand! I have no choice, until I find one, to do anything but stop taking these much needed medications.

Do either of these men care? The lawyers and the judge didn't seem to think it was a problem. More "elected" officials. It was more important to wrap things up, and get out by 5! My neighbors across the street were 78, on social security, and had to move because they could not afford the taxes. They worked all their lives to buy a home and live out the rest of their time on this Earth. Does anyone care besides We, the people? The ones who know what fear of making mortgage payments and doctor's bills and getting gas for our car, and car insurance, and maintenance, and life and home owner's insurance and food and utilities, and energy continually raising our electric bill. Who is going to fix this? I will be paying a huge amount of money on taxes for 2 acres of land, because there is no industry where I live. Who cares about this?

There is a patrol man with a gun in my child's middle and high school. Someone put a homemade bomb on one of the buses, but it didn't detonate. Where is our mandatory skills for life programs that may help these kids with their anger problems, avoiding at least some of the violence that permeates the streets? We should insist, as parents, that the curriculum include these skills, instead of languages they'll never use. Life isn't easy for a lot of people, probably the majority, and we are looking for someone who is HONEST, RESPONSIBLE, OPEN MINDED, INTUITIVE, CHARISMATIC, COMPASSIONATE, INTELLIGENT, PASSIONATE, STRONG WILLED AND STRONG MINDED. These characteristics, along with their ideas and plans for our future, are what will determine the quality of all of our lives. Who will provide these traits, and help our citizens out of a very depressing and expensive period in time?

Who cares that we are sending boys to a Hell they will never forget, and will affect the rest of their lives, and those close to them? Has sending our troops accomplished as much as it has hurt? Over 4,000 boys and men gone, and their families still grieving. Who cares about this? Is prestige and wealth and living in the White House, and getting constant attention, and having power over all, the reason either candidate is running? Is the spotlight on clothes and jewelry and hair, an enticement to run for Vice President? Is setting History a driving force? For either party. Do any of these people, these human beings with all the same frailties we all have, think they have the answer to all the problems our World faces, starting in our own backyards? We have homeless, we have Aids, and a cure lurking in the darkness, elderly living in filth, what do we do about this?

I am going to have Faith in one of these men. Faith that he is the one for the job, and will do the best for us, especially in these very turbulent times. I am going to pray to God that I have taken the information given, and made a wise decision. I am going to ask that strides are made in all of our crumbling walls, that they may be fixed and unity will occur. And I am going to pray that we all find a way to appreciate each other's opinions and understand that we need to pull together, not apart, if we are to have a unified United States of America.

I hear you Susan, only it seems the people in Washington don't hear the frustrations of the common people. Hang in there things have got to get better.

Susan, I'm glad you wrote this. There is a lot of unsettledness and the recent financial troubles wake up many of us even more. I will not vote again for anyone who has already been in the U. S. House or Senate for 12 years. They should go home for a rest, in my view, to reconnect with real people. That means that at times I will vote Rep. and at times Dem, or Independent. Many public voices for "we the people" are calling for the American people to stop the craziness and arrogance of many in Congress in different ways. Like you, for me not voting is not an option. Re: other matters, why is the Federal Communications Commission no longer requiring "decent" speech on radio and TV? They gave up or do not care.

Glad you wrote this, as mentioned at the beginning.

hi jane,
thank you for reading and responding.
i feel if we don't vote, we are not only part of the problem, but we then give up our right to complain or criticize. not that anybody does, but they should. if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem, right?
my partner and i idid a little observing about tv. almost every show, even cartoons,
say the phrase "God damn it" i don't believe that's right. and of course, movies are even worse.
i feel as if God is looking down on us, and waiting for us all to come to our senses, and start living and talking more calmly and respectfully.
i hope all is well with you,
my best,
sue

Hi Sue -- I feel your frustration as I read your words - when I read about your meds, I feel so sad; it shouldn't be like this and, I admit, I get angry. You are correct that neither care - not really - they're not a part of us and have no idea what is really happening to us because they are detached from our reality. I pray with you because I have no faith in our government at all and as you write, "...I am going to pray that we all find a way to appreciate each other's opinions and understand that we need to pull together, not apart, if we are to have a unified United States of America...." I am in total agreement - We, the people, are the United States of America - Amen, my friend.

i judi girl,
it's a very tough time for these united states of america.
someone has to step up and lead in a strong, spiritual, and altruistic manner.
when someone who is running for President over all of us, has a heart, and an intelligent mind to get us all out of the slump we're in, we might have a chance, but it doesn't appear likely.
if one doesn't understand what it's like not to be able to pay for heat, or gas for their car, or electric for their home, or food to feed their family, then they are not the ones who can help us. if they cannot relate, and ride in limousines and dine at fine restaurants and have money for whatever they want, how will they help We, the people?
thank you for reading and commenting,
i appreciate your input,
my best to you,
sue
