October 10, 2008) Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt issued the following statement on news reports of Barack Obama's use of Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics:
"St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police-state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign. What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment. This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson." See full article
In addition to the above, there are mounting negative reports on Barack Obama. They include:
It's mind-boggling enough to think there is anyone in this country who is willing to vote for Obama, it's even harder to understand how Obama ever reached the 50% mark in polls.
Apparently, Americans are susceptible to celebrity-type images to the point where logic and reason go out the window. If you're planning to vote for Obama, here's a quick one-question test to help you sort out whether you're choice is a logical one.
If you were looking to hire a new employee, would you hire someone with the above list of problems in his background? Even if you questioned one or two items, would you feel comfortable with that person? If your answer is yes, you're fooling yourself, you're not a businessman, or your business is going south. No one in his right mind would want to hire someone with the above background.
Yet, for some strange reason, there are people who are willing to vote such an utterly incompetent human being into the highest office of our land.
What people don't seem to realize is this election is unlike any in our history. This election really isn't about a liberal Democrat. It's about an individual who will, in all likelihood, bring this country completely down on its knees.
There is absolutely no indication that Obama is capable of carrying out any of his promises. There is nothing in Obama's background that gives us any assurance that his word even means anything, even if he were capable of bringing his promises to fruition. Yet some people are willing to stake the future of their country on someone who's substanceless speeches -- speeches that obviously do not come from experience, but from rehearsals -- "sound good?"
You know what makes a good con artist? When you can't tell the person's conning you! If he wasn't good at it, he'd never reach the level of "artist" -- he'd remain just another hapless flunky.
What's particularly astonishing is how the worse our economy gets, the higher Obama's ratings go. Why? Does anyone honestly believe someone with Obama's background is capable of doing anything to help our economy? Absolutely ridiculous!
If you think things are bad now, one year with a President Obama, I'm convinced, will totally ruin whatever is left of our great country.
John McCain may not be the Messiah we need. But what he says is honest, it comes from the heart, and it comes from experience. He has a record as a decent human being -- an extremely important component in any endeavor -- which at least allows you to have reasonable confidence that he will make every effort to help this country. You absolutely cannot say this about Obama -- you have no idea what Obama will do, you have no idea what Obama's capable of doing, you're not even sure he will not simply cater to a small portion of Americans and to hell with the rest. Are you willing to take that risk?
In a different election, McCain might not have been the perfect candidate. But in the current one McCain looks pretty damn good, and every vote for Obama is, in my opinion, another nail in the coffin of America. Don't take that chance. The country you save may be your own.
It's one thing not to like a candidate for whatever your reasons are. You obviously are entitled to your thoughts. On the other hand, your article simply sounds like a McCain - Palin rally written on this site. Name calling, fear mongering, and the association games. I looked at your links, and this is what I found:
1. You cite the N.Y. Post RE: Obama's campaign contributions. Did you see in the story where the RNC complaint is admittedly based on media reports? The Post is owned by who? Rupert Murdoch, who also owns Fox News. Hmmm.
2. A story about ACORN, a group that engaged in shady voter registration tactics. This group endorsed Obama. Is that the tie you speak of? I could endorse Lindsey Graham for Dogcatcher, does this tie me to him? You also forgot to mention that sentence at the end of the story - "Paid for by the Republican National Committee. Not authorized by any candidate or any candidate's committee." Wow. That wouldn't be a slanted article, would it?
3. Obama's "Ignorant and Delusional Statements". You cite an editorial from the Jewish Press. An editorial. An opinion piece, that's what editorials are. Unfortunately, editorials are not documented sources of truth. Are we working the Arab angle with this one?
4. Okay, when do we stop trying to work the William Ayers angle. I'll write the word for everyone to see - terrorist. Saying it does not make it so. Show me a story where Obama has been confirmed as a terrorist sympathizer, along with ONE statement that he has made as assuring his allegiance to such a group. You cite Fox News - we know the direction they lean in - as your source.
5. Again, you cite the N.Y. Post. Obama tried to stall troops withdrawal from Iraq. Please. Which one is it? He wants the troops home, but not before he could possibly be elected as President. I think you have the wrong guy if you speak of the person that has placed American lives in danger.
There's absolutely no indication that McCain can carry out any of his promises, either. I saw no mention of the real problems that face America today in your article. If you don't like Obama, simply put, don't vote for him. You are entitled to your opinion, as we all are, but try not to take a page out of the McCain handbook. Don't engage in the politics of fear, our country does not need that. Conjecture, rhetoric, and rumor does not equal truth.
Judge Dred - You seem to associate the truth of a matter by who says or repeats it. This is typical liberal falsehood. An excellent example of your utter ignorance in much of what has been said here is your dismissal of Obama's ignorance and delusions because The Jewish Press printed it. I've heard the tape with my own ears of Obama stating he's campaigned in 57 states. I've heard it played and repeated may times on radio. Of course, to you, whether or not Obama said it is irrelevant -- if it's presented by a media you don't agree with, then it ceases to be true. Are you out of your mind?
As you said, you're entitled to your opinion. But don't pass off your opinion as knowledge of facts. There's obviously little of that from your totally emotionally-charged, knowledge-bereft liberal cohorts. You're the reason this country is running into the ground. If not for your distorted notion of "equality," we wouldn't be in this mortgage mess. But you all do a good job of blaming others. I'm surprised you haven't used the words "liars" yet -- that seems to be the liberal's mantra.
Get your facts straight before you start blaming others for your own faults. You liberals are a bigger threat to this country than al Qaeda. You benefit immensely from the country, and you have nothing but hatred for it.
Apparently the only emotion is coming from you. I simply challenged your sources and, wow! Did McCain say:
1."The fundamentals of our economy are strong".
2."The American workers form the foundation of our economy, and they are strong".
3. Asked for a blue ribbon panel to study why the financial collapse occurred.
4. Stated he would suspend his campaign to go to Washington, to help in resolving the financial crisis. He also wasn't going to leave until a "rescue" bill was passed.
Do I have to use the word "liar" for number 4, Josh? Did he actually suspend his campaign? Did he stay in Washington, and not leave, until the bill was passed?
See Josh, I did not have to cite conservative or liberal media for those tidbits. These items can be found on some of your favorite media outlets (If they dare talk about them). Did McCain say or do any of the above things? Oh wait, the liberal media poisoned that information before it reached your unbiased ears. You heard Obama say that he has campaigned in 57 states. I heard McCain present his new financial plan to "My fellow prisoners" at a campaign stop. Delve into that Josh, what spin can you put on that? Because you WILL place your own meaning on McCain's faux pas. How do I know? Like the McCain campaign, when you have nothing of substance to talk about, you turn the conversation to emotionally charged, name calling rhetoric.
You don't like democracy if there's a chance that the controls are not in the hands of the people not of your choosing. We all benefit from this country, and you have nothing but hatred of those that don't agree with you. Typical ultra-conservative, bitter, Republican viewpoint. Oh well, the great thing about America - you are allowed to be what and who you are! Great talking with you. Until next time.
At least have the courtesy to say something new to keep my interest. Your out of context itemizations have been asked and answered countless of times. Try reading or watching some news. Do me a favor and record your rants, send me the CD, and I'll listen to it at my next party (over and over and over).
Great attempt at being dismissive. The bottom line is that you were unable to respond to anything I had to say in a coherent manner. When ultra-conservatives like you are challenged, you dissolve into a bowl of Jello that you can't nail to the wall. Don't bring our country down with your special brand of garbage. Thanks for being stuck on stupid.
No, I'm stuck on "no geeksville." Unlike you, I do have other things to do besides nitpick articles in the internet to pieces. I don't answer every nut job on the street who goes around shouting things at people or claiming to be Jesus. You're the internet's version of these nuts. I just don't have the time for guys like you.
The bottom line is, if Obama gets elected, this country is in for rough times, the likes of which we've never seen. Obama is a complete total inept human being, to find the likes of which you'd have to comb the halls of shyster lawyers and degenerate street thugs. A great number of his voter base are people who have absolutely nothing and know very well Obama will bring down the rest of the country. But, as they say, misery loves company -- they don't really care.
Despite our differences, you continue to take the time to respond to me. As for Obama bringing down the country, we will all see. I respectfully agree to disagree with you on this subject matter. Thanks.
Isn't the country being sold out of the front door while folks are distracted, keeping an eye on Barack? Where's your outrage for the 20 percent capital hit the market took klast week--on Bush's watch? If your piece was more balanced, didn't ignore the obvious socialist mugging of the capital and credit markets and the private institutions, I might find your work more credible? But how can you ignore the GIANT crashing sound that in a month has destroyed folks 401's, wrecked the mortgage and housing industry, and brought companies like GM to the brink of collapse?
Ever hear of 4- or 8-year mortgages? They're not too common. Mortgages that have been in effect for 10, 20 or 30 years, and finally collapsed the market on Bush's watch, that doesn't make it Bush's fault. It really doesn't. It does go back to the Clinton years, when they threatened banks with penalties if they didn't loosen their lending practices to allow less-qualified people to buy houses. Much of what you mention is in this category. If your house exploded because the pervious owner tinkered with the gas line, that doesn't make it your fault that the house blew up.
look at the forest man! What have mortgages got to do with the creation of derivatives--purely a creation of the finanical industry, not of Clinton or Bush--these derivatives were based on "blundled" mortgages and no one really knew their value! Less than 5% of all mortgages are in foreclosure--than is NOT what sent Bears, Stern down the tubes--when you boy in Bush's cabinet sold it out for less than the worth of its New York headquarters. The Same with AIG--which was not in the mortgage business at all!!! Paulson--IN OFFICE NOW--agreed to bail them out. The same Paulson, in office now, let Lehman Bros ( a firm founded in Alabama in the 1880's as cotton traders) go bankrupt, refusing to bail them out (they were of course once Paulson's competitors when he as at Goldman). Then Paulson through the Fed brokered Merrill Lynch becoming apart of BOA. He seized a bank's assets! THis is now, man! Now! Clinton was 12 years ago, at less eight! The economy has had plenty of time to right itself, fix its issues were it not for GREED--not mortgages in the inner city to working people. Do some thinking, big guy. Don't just swallow the explanantion whole, without diligence and review! There is no way you can minimize Paulson's role.HIS net worth is half a BILLION. And he has been operating without oversight or approval. Bush didn't even speak until a week ago--Paulson had Bush under house arrest!
The author of this article sounds like a graduate of the "EIB Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies" under Professor Rush Limbaugh. This guy is using all the hot buttons that Mr. Limbaugh banks home 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. Hopefully the politics of fear, the politics of personal destruction will NOT work this time. It is the current administration that has driven the nail into America's coffin, ushering in the post-America era of global leadership. How can Obama do any worse than that? It's like saying you are afraid that someone will push lower into the ground after you're already buried! Anyway, what is one big idea of McCain's that is any different from that of President Bush's? On national security? On Iraq War? On the economy? What's the difference between McCain and Bush? And who in their right mind (unless you're just a blind partisan) would want to continue those policies that have brought us here? I pose that question as one who actually voted for Mr. Bush in 2004! If a Democrat president brought America this low, I would vote for a Republican for a change. The American people do need to change the party at the helm.
The difference between Bush and Obama is the difference between a bad pilot and someone who has no idea where the controls are and pretends to be a pilot. I'll take the bad pilot.
How can Obama do worse? As bad shape as where in, we have not yet hit bottom, and where not "buried" yet. Obama can do, and I'm convinced will do a lot worse. You've been blinded by the Bush hatred. You're ready to jump out of the frying pan and into the fire. What in the world about Obama makes you think he'll do anything at all for this country? In terms of accomplishments, Obama is a midget next to even Palin.
Why don't you give us something positive? Tell us one thing Obama has ever accomplished. What is the true color of Obama? Zero accomplishments? Republicans are not bitching. They're trying to tell the idiots voting for Obama, he will totally sink this country. How stupid do you have to be to not see this? You call this bitching? This is true fear.
