"We are not born all at once, but by bits. The body first, and the spirit later and the birth and growth of the spirit, in those who are attentive to their own inner life, are slow and exceedingly painful. Our mothers are racked with the pains of our physical birth; we ourselves suffer the longer pains of our spiritual growth." Mary Antin, 1912

Yes, we are not born all at once; as we develop through our physical birth, our spiritual soul needs to be nourished as well as our physical status. How we are nurtured in our formative years i.e., the educational curriculum we are conditioned to is a part of our development

One need not have a background of religious rearing to sense a need for spiritual growth. For we are all composed with a soul and a conscience which we were born with, although our material world may alter our way of thinking, e.g. we need to satisfy our needs such as providing our selves with food, shelter, and clothing.

However, our spiritual needs must also be satisfied, for we cannot live by bread alone, what sets us apart from the animal world is our inner being. Yes, there is a person living inside of us, which takes a beating sometimes when we see all of the corruption going on around us.

We are supposedly all created equal so why then are we all so different in our characters and personalities. Yes, we as human beings still have a long way to go in our spiritual development. Our spirit seeks an inner peace a peace that comes with love and understanding.

I do not believe many of these born again Christians are being totally honest with themselves. For their newfound awareness in Christ, they claim is the reason they have found and live the truth. Actually, the outside world is still the same as they left it when they were lost souls.

I believe if we can change the world then and only then can we find that inner peace so many are searching for. The world is a puzzle we must put together piece by piece

Hi David, great concepts, but I have to ask you why you believe born again Christians are not being honest with themsleves when they claim that Jesus is the reason they found truth and live by it? The day I acknowledged the truth of God in Christ, was the first time in my life I was ever honest with myself. Of course the world as a whole is still the same, but as a Christian, I am not responsible for the world, I am only responsible for myself and the little world around me. Anyway, just thought I would give you another perspective. I think the only Christian that is not being totally honest with themselves is the one who does not practice what they preach, not the one who lives the truth they found in Christ. Peace and blessings to you. Teresa

I respect your beliefs Teresa, however I believe I would be a lot happier if the world was a better place to live in. Seeing other people living in peace and love gives me a good feeling inside. If we change the world than people would change

Thanks David, you sort of answered my question :-).

Seeing other people live in peace and love makes me feel good too.  It would be great for the world to change. Unfortunately, the world will not change until people change because its people that make up the world.

I think that you are a great start to change and a good example to me and others.  Peace.

hi david,

this was a well put together article, and i can relate to the world being a puzzle we put together piece by piece. i've been trying to make round holes fit into square boxes for the past 2 years, and i know, without any doubts, that it takes work and knowledge and experience to figure out where those pieces really fit. i'm getting there!,

my best to you,

sue

Hi David,

Nice article. It makes me happy also when I see people living in love and peace. It isn't always easy, but thank God that we have a daily recourse to pray and start our day over if we find ourselves in the muck.

God bless
