Exactly 3 weeks from today, the citizenry of the United States will elect a new president. For better or for worse. And, although Obama is leading in the national polls, and even if he leads right up to November 4, I believe on the morning of the fifth, you will see a picture of McCain with a newspaper headline reading: OBAMA WINS! But just as Harry Truman held the same headline that Dewey Wins, McCain will have a winner's smile as did Truman. I'll explain why.

I don't know what the present plans are, of anyone, yet I have read recently that there were bombs to be bursted shortly before the election. We'll have to see what they are. I saw McCain talking to a crowd yesterday on TV and he said, "We have them right where we want them!" And saying this immediately after acknowledging that the polls were in favor of Obama, I thought, what in tarnation is he talking about? But after having read some of the other insinuations, I feel sure something is about to erupt. It may very well be one of the following non-news items only with additional damning information.

We have all heard, with details (as far as I know now) of the Obama - William Ayers affair which Obama has characterized as "just a man who lives in the neighborhood". This has been considered as an effort to sweep it under the rug by Obama and when one has read what facts are already available, it must be conceded that it does appear that way. Even Hillary Clinton expressed her concern over his association with Ayers during the debate by the candidates before the primaries, saying that Ayers was leader of a radical terrorists group protesting the Vietnam war who has no regrets for their having bombed various federal buildings at that time. In fact, he still says that they should have done more. Also, Obama declares that their association was that they served on the same board of directors together. That statement can be classified as a lie by omission. Why is he trying to hide the true facts if he is innocent in this matter? Here is a quote from Michelle Malkin: (michellemalkin.com)

"The Chicago bully tactics aren't going to work. While Obama sics his lawyers and Kossack minions on TV stations that dare to air an independent ad about his close relationship with Weather Underground terrorist-turned-academic Bill Ayers, the truth is seeping out"

The facts as of this time (unless more have been uncovered that have not been made public) are that Obama and Ayers association has been extensive. It is known that Obama visited Ayers home as early as the mid 90's at the start of his first bid for the state senate. Also, it is known that Ayers received 50 million dollars grant to initiate a program (The Chicago Annenberg Challenge) to reform Chicago's public schools which was added to by the state of Illinois for a total of 160 million. He appointed Obama and others to the board and then managed to ram-rod him in as chairman of the board. This was highly unexpected since there were others much more highly qualified for the position. Here is another quote from Malkin's article:

"The UIC records show that Obama and Ayers attended board meetings, retreats and at least one news conference together as the education program got under way. The two continued to attend meetings together during the 1995-2001 operation of the program, records show"

In an article of the National Review dated August 18, 2008, Stanley Kurtz relates his efforts to view files of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge housed at the UIC library. After being assured by sources at the library that he would be welcome to view any files he desired, he was later denied access to most of them and was given differing reasons for that. (Note: I believe the library has recently released those documents after receiving considerable pressure to do so.)

After all of this, for whatever it is worth, the program which ran for some 6-7 years reportedly had negligible effect as far as reformation of the schools was concerned.

Another less spoken of venture of Obama's is his involvement with the ACORN organization. ACORN, an acronym for Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, is another radical and worthless organization whose few accomplishments have been shadowed by fraud and deception and should be outlawed. It's latest escapade is that of fraudulent voting registrations. Every spot where they have worked at registering voters has been accused of fraudulent practices and just yesterday, were facing one charge where one of their workers admitted signing 73 voter applications. ACORN's origin history reaches back to the NWRO, National Welfare Rights Organization, one of the most radical of groups of the 60's. The founder of that group, George Wiley, created this organization primarily seeking to gain full welfare rights for all unwed mothers. After pressuring small successes on the local levels, the extra costs of the benefits caused a backlash and began the welfare reform actions which followed. The details of radical ACORN are extensive and Obama's association with it is also lengthy. To read the details of the organization go to this article:

http://www.city-journal.org/html/13_2_acorns_nutty_regime.html

And for details of Obama's connections with it read this one:

http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=NDZiMjkwMDczZWI5ODdjOWYxZTIzZGIyNzEyMjE0ODI =

Another factor that has been largely overlooked or even covered up, by the liberal national media seems to be the many uncouth and shady characters whose dollars have made him one of the highest money raisers in politics. This group includes just about every enemy of America and of our way of life that you can think of.

Then, there is the Muslim connection. Obama vehemently denies that he is Muslim and I accept that. He was born in America, so he is American. But I do believe with all my heart he has Muslim sympathies and even tendencies. Seemingly, although his father and mother separated when he was very young, he has more adoration for his father than any other person including his white grandparents who seem to have been his primary benefactors. Yet he has tried to distance himself from being identified with whites. Raila Odinga, the Kenyan opposition leader whose followers caused havoc with their looting, burning and killing, claims to be Obama's first cousin. Certainly they are acquainted because, during the rioting in early 2008, Obama called him a number of times in an effort to resolve the problems. But why he was not dealing with the duly elected president is the question. It is reported that he was supportive of Odinga who was the ultimate cause of the riotings and could have stopped them at will. Odinga also promotes Sharia Law.

But let's list those who have supported him whole heartedly, whether or not he wanted their support. He has given to charity much of what Tony Rezko contributed but only after much publicity of their connection. But to name others whose reputations reek with racism, anti-American and anti-Jewish sentiments: George Soros, Louis Farrakhan, MoveOn.org, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, most all of the Muslim leaders worldwide. When one stops to realize the time and effort Obama has had to devote in making excuses for his past associations, hiding, covering them up and so on, it is enough to cause doubt in anyone's mind.

hi joel,

you certainly do know how to write well.

i am totally disheartened at our choices. however, i will not give up my right to vote, so i must vote for who i believe is the lesser of 2 evils, and that is disturbing. then again, who in the World would even want to take on this job, with all the corruption and greed and threats of war? the pay isn't that great!

prestige? maybe. recognition? maybe. this election will not only affect us, but our young children, such as mine, who are trying to make it in a world where they can barely afford gas to get to work. it used to be a privlege and something worthy of pride to be able to leave home and make your own way. there was excitement in venturing out into the world. now, there is only fear, and stress. only God can and i believe will, help us.

thanks for a great article,

my best,

sue

Lovely writing... would like some non-partial/reputable sources; as non-partisan sources like Snopes, FactCheck[dot]org, and PolitiFact[com seem to disagree with many of these assertions.

Thanks for writing and commenting Judd. I derived much of this information from a lot of different sources. I can't list all the url's here but all you have to do is put "Obama and Ayers" in to Google and you'll pull up more than you can find time to read. Naturally the ones I got it from are conservatives for the most part. You can't get this ionformation from liberal sources. Incidentally though, the one you cite are not non-partisan. Especially FactCheck and Snopes, Im not too familiar with Politifacaft. They may be good sources of non-political tales, but they are as liberal as you can get, just like NPR and the New York Times.

Hi Robert, thanks for the comment. Yes, I suppose I'll be called racist, however, my first choice for President was Alan Keyes. Just because I am opposed to Obama has nothing to do with his race. I think he is a very smart fellow and probably a good fellow. But my views of America are different than those of his and Jeremiah Wright, George Soros, and all fthose others. I insist that they are racist. and when 90% of blacks are for him, what can you call that but racism? If he had not run, there would have been a lot of them on my side with Keyes.

Yes, again you are right Robert. We need not look for a sound Christian man as a viable candidate. I do not believe Keyes is even going to be on our ballot. Thanks for your comments.

This article was certainly one to enjoy. I also believe that Obama will be the talk of our headlines as the new President and quite frankly the man is about business no matter his race or denomination.

Hi Charles, thanks for reading the article and your comment. His race and his denomination are quite acceptable. His radical liberalism is not. He is about business, but the wrong business. He is for killing over 30 innocent babies each hour 24/7. Whatever he may say, he is in a group who are tax crazy. They want to do so much they will have to tax us to death to accomplish it. He wants to reduce our military budget to hazardous levels as did Bill Clinton and caught us off guard for the second time...Pearl Harbor and  9/11.  Their tax policy is bound to  eliminate more jobs and cause more inflation. And much more.

"Then, there is the Muslim connection. Obama vehemently denies that he is Muslim and I accept that. He was born in America, so he is American. But I do believe with all my heart he has Muslim sympathies and even tendencies."

Can you help us out, Joel, what does this mean exactly? He's not a Muslim, but he has Muslim tendencies? The first question that pops into my head is, "so what?" Is the implication that Muslims are inferior in some way? I don't get where this statement is supposed to take us.

Gregory, I suspect that tendencies was a poor choice of words there, I think sympathies would have been better. And I at least partially explained that in a previous comment above. The reason I dislike that is that Islam is a very intolerant religion and Christianity has far too many anti-Christians already.  Islam has far too many radicals within it, and in fact that is the reason we are fighting several factions of it now. I have no problem with anyone being a Muslim but I do not want any part of Islam to become part of our law.

And don't say that it is no different to Christianity. True Christians try to convince others of their faith, however, you will never see one who is truly a Christian who tries to force their religion upon anyone. There are several countries which will not allow a Bible to be brought in them.

Excellent writing, Joel. I wonder how future historians will pen this part of our nation's history. This has been one wild ride, hasn't it? Guess we will find out who stands for what soon enough. Once one of the big 2 wins, I don't think it will be long before we find out what he stands for or against. Either way, I think our nation is going to be slow to come out of this one, mortgage bailouts, character of candidates, registration fraud, the whole thing.

Hi Lorrie, and yes you're right, it has been a wild one. I'm about ready to sit it out and see what happens. I honestly think that either of them will do their best to bring us out of this downslide, but I question that we will have much fast success from either. I would not give a hoot about who wins this election so much if it were not for the appointment of those Supreme Court Judges. We surely don't need another liberal on that court.

I have an idea that whoever gets it will be a one term man. I'm sure Hillary will run next time and I also doubt that John McCain will run again. So, I predict we'll have two fresh ones next time. Maybe two women. But I doubt that either of these men will make the country proud in 4 years.  Thanks much for writing.

Hi Joel,

I enjoyed reading your article and I think it is well written. Of course you are perfectly entitled to your opinion and to vote for whoever you think deserves to be President. I must admit I am an Obama fan because of his policies and the message that his election would send to the world. However it is disgraceful for people to label every Republican as a racist ( especially since every party has an element of this bigotry). However George Bush has not been a very good president and nothing that Senator Mccain has said or done so far has convinced me that he would be very different. Sarah Palin is just awful and although she appeals to the base, her tone and perfomance have alienated very many people. Some of us respect Senator Mccain's long record of fairness and honour. However he seems to have been hijacked by the extreme Right Wing of the party and the man we are seeing now bears no resemblance to the honourable campaigner of 2000. It is a shame because he could have been the best candidate but Sarah Palin keeps putting off so many moderate people. Studies seem to indicate that about 30% of the American public will always vote conservative no matter who the candiate is. In fact this is true for many countries. Therefore Mccain has committed a mistake by concentrating on preaching to the converted instead of appealing to moderates. That is why I believe that the GOP is going to lose these elections.

Anyway

Best of luck with the voting

Regards

Thank you anon, for your comments and I do agree that everyone has the right to believe as he wishes. But past that, we disagree very much. Mainly about Palin. I do not understand what anyone could have against her except a hard-shelled liberal. I'm not saying she is perfect, no one is, but she is the nearest thing to a solid conservative that we have seen in a long while and frankly, I am for her much more than McCain. She is brilliant, a fundamentalist Christian, honest and has proven to be a fighter of corruption. You will be hard put to find any governor of any state who has accomplished more than she has, especially in the same length of time.

Also, you speak of John McCain seemingly having been hijacked by the extreme right wing. I wish that were true but it is far from it. I would probably be considered among the extreme right wing, but I would not vote for McCain if it were not for Palin. I would have voted for one of the truly conservative 3rd party candidates, as I did in the primary.

Again, I appreciate your comments eventhough I cannot agree with them.

Actually this is very interesting. Most people (myself included) have a mixture of attitudes. Not many people are completely liberal or completely conservative. It is a case of which side has a greater priority when you come to vote. Just taking my own example, I believe in some form of wealth redistribution especially in these hard times but I also feel saddened by the ease with which some people feel entitled to murder unborn children (abortion).

Sarah Palin is just one of those marmite things (You either love her or hate her). She has shown great courage in bringing up her children and withstanding the media war against her. However her message and tone makes Democrats angry and the Moderates frightened. She sometimes gives the impression of not taking the presidency seriously enough. America is and will continue to be the leader of the free world.  That is why that horrendous interview that she gave  worried a lot of people given the fact that she may well become the most powerful woman in the world. Maybe she was nervous or unused to the media glare but surely they could have prepared her better.

I expect she truly  disagrees with Obama but there is no need to become so rabid in the attacks. Obama and Sarah are both young politicians who are trying to make a career for themselved. Wouldn't it be better if they both rejoiced in their "breakthrough" instead of tearing each other down. Sometimes I get the impression that Sarah really hates Obama. That is not good politics. I respect Sarah Palin and her achievements but the negative tone has not been very helpful.

Bye the way having read your articles and your comments I do not think for any moment that you are an extreme right wing person. You come accross as a sensible, respectful, thoughtful and principled person who just happens to have conservative views. The world would be a better place if more people had principles. At least you vote on your ideals and are not swayed by popularity contests. Many young people do not bother to vote these days and that is why democracy is being undermined.

The truth is that most of America's allies would be delighted with Obama'e election given the cavallier attitudes to foreign policy that some members of the Republican administration have demonstrated over the last 8 years. I also believe that Obama would be a moderate president who will try to listen to people of a different politican persuasion when making decisions. The same can not be said for Sarah Palin who makes no effort whatsoever to interact with people of different views. They have stopped her making interviews and are just forcing her to make parrot responses instead of expressing her self. I am sure she is a warm, pleasant woman but this campaign has not allowed her to show that side of her personality. This is such a shame for her future career.

Hi John, I cannot help but agree with you on Palin's previously harsh attacks, however, I am convinced that she was doing what she had been instructed to do by some of the party's advisors and it wasn't the best advice. It is generally expected that the VP candidate will run interference for their ticket.

I have a lot of respect for Obama's brilliance and his speaking ability, it is only that our ideologies clash. My religion actually comes first in my life and there is too much of the liberal agenda that opposes it. In my young days I was a staunch Democrat. But I changed to the Republicans as years went by because of their developing liberal leanings. I suppose Roe vs Wade cemented my opposition to them. Thanks again for commenting.

Joel, you can definitely write and I will probably learn a thing or two from reading your articles. We are definitely of different times, and opinions. I guess the one question I would like to ask is "do you somehow believe someone could not be both american and muslim"? Unless I misunderstood your writing you seemed to apply the two could not coexist. One more question I have is, what is a muslim tendency? Praying 5 times a day? Thanks for sharing.

James

Hi James, thanks for commenting. Most of your questions have been addressed in previous comments  but I will answer again. Of course I think a Muslim can be an American. This is a free country and, thus far, we have at least, partial freedom of religion. And as far as the term "tendencies" is concerned, I have already admitted that was a poor description of what I meant. What I meant was sympathies, and that was only because I do not believe anyone who promotes or is sympathetic towards Shariah law should hold any influential office in America. That law is in total opposition to our freedoms here in America.

Saudi Arabia is a perfect example. You cannot bring a Bible into that country. Shariah law is intolerant of other religions, it is shamefully abusive towards their women, and much more.
