As I walked in the grocery store my son looked up with worried eyes, "What happens if Obama wins Mommy?"
My son is a second grader and has already been overwhelmed with the Obama campaign targeting anywhere and everywhere to get elected. The latest news shows him stooping to the lowest level buying ads on a video game. Yesterday, an Obama campaign supporter showed up at my son's school shirt and all.
"It was ok that she did, because Grant and I figured out that there are way more McCain voters than Obama."
Second graders should not have to worry about who will lead their country. Unfortunately, as election draws closer and candidates get more desperate, every American big or small are having to deal with what the future will look like.
How did I answer my son? I didn't know what to say. I wanted to say that people are smart and it won't happen, but we all know that it isn't true. I wanted to say that we could move for the next four years, but that isn't reasonable either. I instead pushed the basket and informed him that we would just have to wait and see what happens.
Maybe I should have told him what Mike Huckabee said today on my Facebook page.
"The sad thing about voter anger is that it's misdirected. While there is plenty of blame and fault to go around for both parties, there really is hard evidence that John McCain tried in vain to get attention focused on the totally absurd lending practices of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that are at the heart of the meltdown. Barack Obama is the second highest recipient of political cash from the big bosses of these entities, and one of his economic advisors Franklin Raines took over $90 million in bonuses from Fannie Mae. That's right---$90 MILLION. Do you really think that Barack Obama will lead "reform" of a system that his advisors have helped create?
His radical views on when life begins and his priority of protecting abortion rights over the right to life for the unborn are beyond most of even the most extreme leftists. His work with ACORN, a radical political organization is especially noteworthy in light of the fact that ACORN received over $760 million in "fees" from banks to help push people into "N.I.N.J.A. loans." (These are loans made to people with No Income; No Job; and No Assets, thus NINJA loans.)
Imagine Obama as President and Democrats holding majorities in the House and with a possible 60 vote margin Senate.
Goodbye, 2nd amendment rights.
Goodbye, protection for the unborn.
Goodbye, tax breaks.
Goodbye, diligence against state sponsored terrorism from rogue governments like Iran, North Korea, and others.
Goodbye, parental rights as a fundamental right to not be supplanted by the government.
Goodbye, holding traditional marriage as one man, one woman for life."
Or maybe I should tell my son about the article in the
Wall Street Journal that looks at Obama's illusion in-depth and how he is going to so call give all these "tax cuts."
The most disturbing is Obam's new definition of the term. So many individuals would begin living off of the government that they no longer would value work. What are we teaching our kids? That they deserve something? We deserve nothing! There is a direct correlation between work and success. Why do we assume that we should be handed success? What type of people will this create?
Our nation of whiny babies will only increase as their hands go our for more and more until we no longer can function as a country. I know this sounds severe, but seriously-how much can a government afford to hand out before it goes under.
"The total annual expenditures on refundable "tax credits" would rise over the next 10 years by $647 billion to $1.054 trillion, according to the Tax Policy Center," taken from the above mentioned Wall Street Journal article. "This means that the tax-credit welfare state would soon cost four times actual cash welfare. By redefining such income payments as "tax credits," the Obama campaign also redefines them away as a tax share of GDP. Presto, the federal tax burden looks much smaller than it really is."
I think a lot of us have watched the media mishandle this campaign and have given up. We sit in shock as untruths continue to be reported as fact. Check out this
article alone on the vice-presidential debate.
We have resigned ourselves to four years of Obama. I think as Christians and Americans we are failing if we give up now. It is time to get on our knees and pray for our country.
It is time to correct the misconceptions and take a stand for our future. We have a few more weeks before we can give up. It is time to fight.
Huckabee says it best:
"Stand for life, for marriage, for the Fair Tax, for our 2nd amendment rights, Fight for the pre-eminent role of mothers and fathers in raising their children, for lower taxes, for controls on government spending, and Demand an end to the disgusting corruption of Washington that led to this massive economic meltdown. Email or call your friends and family. Share with them what is at stake. Make a contribution to a favorite candidate or support my PAC with a contribution. Volunteer locally. The stakes are real. The threat to our families growing.
