Sorry about this, but here is another one of my rants concerning the US Economics.
Are you worried about your financial portfolio? What about your home? Your job? Are you worried so much that you are making yourself sick? (Been there, done that) What are you going to do? How are you going to keep the lights on? How are you going to pay for retirement?
These past two weeks have been some of the worst two weeks in our economic history. The Stock Market hasn't seen these kinds of numbers since the Great Depression back in the 1920s. The US government responded by bringing to us a huge bailoutbut the stock market continued to go lower and lower. And it was all driven by fear.
I was reading some marketing literature on the net for work and I came across an article that had a brilliant acronym. I now use this in my everyday spiritual life.
F = False
E = Emotion
A = Appearing
R = Real
How true is that?
If you let fear reign in your heart about these troubled economic times, then you are not serving the God that gave you your finances to begin with!
One thing I am tired of is the media. Everyone in the media is saying that this is such a horrible thing that we just don't know what to do. They blame this person and they blame that person. They blame this company and that company.
So who is to blame for all of this stuff that we are going through? We are! The everyday average person who believes that in order to succeed in life you have to not only keep up with the Joneses but surpass them with stuff, stuff, and more stuff. House, Cars (notice I am using the plural version of that word), the best furniture, Gameboys to keep the kids happy and quiet, Dinner parties, etcand I could go on and on.
We live beyond our means! We get loans that we cannot realistically pay for but we trust the so-called professionals that give us that loan when they know we cannot afford it. We have our kids in expensive sports and wonder why we cannot afford to put food on the table or keep the phone connected.
And then there are "professional" ball players who act like children when they cannot get their 32nd million on their contract.
What has this world come to??? Welllet me tell you.a world without God as the main source of its strength and power.
Instead, PRIDE and REBELLION have become the standard now.
"Certainly, the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people who have set their hearts on getting rich have wandered away from the Christian faith and have caused themselves a lot of grief." 1 Timothy 6:10 (GW)
Notice it is not saying that money is evilbut the LOVE of money is the root of all kinds of evil.
We need to get our nation focused back on the God who created it in the first place.
"Be in debt for nothing, but to have love for one another: for he who has love for his neighbor has kept all the law." Romans 13:8 (BE)
"A rich person rules poor people, and a borrower is a slave to a lender." Proverbs 22:7 (BE)
I used to worry about money but not anymore. Two major things happened that made me believe that God was the owner of my finances.
1. My husband and I started tithing the full 10% and we have never gone without. Even when we didn't think we would have enough, God always provided.
2. We went through the Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. Even though, I went in there kicking and screaming, I learned a tremendous amount of information that made me realize that a budget is needed and to never live outside our means.
We have no mortgage, no car payment, and definitely no more credit cards.
We are blessed because we are being wise stewards of the money that God gives us every month.
Sothis economic crash that we are going does not phase me one bit. God will provide if you choose to do it His way.
