Ten years of marriage is definitely worth celebrating! Congratulations for making it this far!
If you are like my husband and I, the anniversary really seems like every other. If your lucky, you have taken the time to plan ahead for the day. Otherwise, life has carried you to this point and now you are desperately searching for some ideas to make it the special day that it is.
It is a day that should be celebrated. A day of rejoicing! A day of romance! Here are ten ways to commemorate the occasion.
Recreate Your First Date
Depending on the income situation at the time, this may seem cheesy. My roommate in college met her husband in high school so their first date was at Taco Bell. I know it doesn't sound exciting, but she loved spending her anniversary at Taco Bell because it brought back all those feelings of their first date.
Send Ten Dozen Roses
Women love the attention so sending them gifts at the office or in public, melts their heart every time. It doesn't have to be roses, just any of her favorite flowers will do. It could be cookies, chocolate, etc. You know your wife best, make her melt.
Scavenger hunt
Plan clues for your wife so that she can hunt for her special night. When we celebrated one of our anniversaries, my husband left clues to each stage of the date. One for where we were to have dinner, one for the courtyard of our old college, one for the bedroom. But I had to guess what the clue meant and lead the way. It was fun. Another way to do this is to leave picture clues or puzzle clues for a final picture.
Tattoo Rings
My husband and I are actually debating doing this one for our ten year anniversary. Celebrities are making this popular right now, even Bristol Palin's fiance has been seen sporting her name in place of a wedding ring. My husband hates the feeling of having a ring on and would much rather have a tat. The good news is they are permanent and a sweet gesture. There are ton of designs. You can even get matching celtic ring designs. You can do the date of the wedding or each other's names. The options are endless. You can even get a scripture reference.
Couple Massage
Book an appointment at the local spa for a day of pampering. Both of you will enjoy getting to relax and having the tension melt away.
Go to New York
New York is known as a romantic haven and a carriage ride in Central Park will definitely make ten years worthwhile. If you have the funds also look at going to Paris, Rome, etc. Any place away from the norm will help you re-energize the marriage.
Renew Your Wedding Vows
Do you even remember the words you said to one another? Talk with your pastor and see about recreating that moment when you announced that the two of you will spend the rest of your lives together. Be sure to invite friends, have cake, etc. It will be a sweet reminder of what the vows meant and their importance.
Buy A Real Ring
Most likely when you got married, funds were tight. Surprise her this ten year anniversary with an upgrade ring. You can put it in a glass of champagne or inside a cake. Be sweet and fun! You can even propose again.
Candlelight Picnic
Plan a nice picnic in a romantic spot. It could be at a local park or touristic spot. Be sure to enjoy looking into her eyes once again like you were just meeting.
Record Memories
Each one of you takes the week leading up to the day to write down, compile pictures or video of your favorite memories over the last ten years. Then share them over dinner. You might be surprised at what your spouse thought was the most special. End the night with a toast to more memories.
