You work all day, come home and relax. Something we all do every day. At the end of the day it's time to head to the bedroom, change into some pajamas and do our best to relax and get comfortable for a good nights sleep. Your bedroom is just as important to you as say a living room or dining room is. Finding comfortable furniture for those rooms is a must and your bedroom is no different. When you come home and are ready for bed, your bedroom furniture should be comfortable and relaxing. Perhaps your bedroom is ready for a change. Why not something different from what you're using now?

There are many different things you can do to change the look and feel of your bedroom. Platform bed frames offer a unique alternative to other bedroom furniture. What makes platform bed furniture better than say a day bed or futon bed though? That question can be answered a couple of different ways and offers some things to think about when you're out shopping for new bedroom furniture. Coming up with some solid ideas of where you want to take your bedroom is a good start to making your bedroom more comfortable.

When considering a platform bed here are some things that will help your bedroom. Platform bed frames are made to take just a mattress. No box spring units or bulky fabric foundations are required on a platform bed. Why is this you ask? Platform bed frames are designed with a foundation built into the bed. This foundation will consist of either solid panels or what is referred to as a slat support system. Both will work fine with most brands of mattresses and eliminates the need for a box spring unit.

By not having a box spring unit below the mattress, this allows the platform of the bed to be made slightly above where the box unit would be. This cleans up the look of the bed by making it appear less bulky and provides additional storage space beneath the bed. Storage space is the number one advantage to owning a platform bed and we all need more storage. There are of course platform beds made with built in storage but many beds are made to be open beneath. These beds too can be a place for storage containers, boxes or anything else that can conveniently be stored beneath the bed. If you're using a bed skirt on the platform bed, then you won't see anything beneath the bed and it gives you a great place to store things that are within reach but out of sight.

Once you've figured out the bed you want it's time to consider what casegoods you're interested in. Casegoods is a term the furniture industry uses to describe furniture like nightstands, chests, armoires, dressers and so on. Finding the right combination of casegoods is important as they offer you storage space within certain parts of your bedroom and should be considered an extension of storage in the room. Typically if a bedroom is two adults it would be a good idea to have two nightstands, one on each side of the bed. These would offer a great place for putting things down at night like books, glasses or anything else you can think of. Perhaps a small lamp on each nightstand and would provide a good place for an alarm clock.

Besides nightstand you'll need storage for clothing. There are several different units to consider. The most popular are dressers. These are long casegoods that will offer anywhere from six, eight, ten or more drawers. Great for jeans, shirts, personal items, socks, you name it. With dressers, your bedroom needs to have some length so make sure you can fit a dresser in the room. If a dresser is hard to fit then you can consider a chest. Chests are tall casegoods that are narrower than a dresser. They fit great into most bedrooms and can have anywhere from three, five or seven drawers. They work much the same way as dressers in that they provide useful storage for most clothing items.

If you're considering changing the look of your bedroom, here again are some ideas you can use to make it more comfortable and functional. Try incorporating a platform bed. It will provide you with more storage space within the area that your bed occupies and will look less bulky than other types of beds. Consider adding nightstands next to your bed as a place for books, glasses, alarm clocks, lamps or other items. Storage space is always something you need so consider adding chests and dressers depending on your space as a place for all types of clothing. Always get friends and family involved by getting their input. You'd be surprised by the number of fresh ideas others may have about your space. Remember, you've put in a hard days work and your bedroom is the place you'll go to recharge after a long day, make it the way you would like it to be.
