A power lift recliner chair is more than just a recliner. It is a device that can help people with mobility problems move from one position to another. Power recliners or chair lifts can move the person using it from a sitting position to a standing position or help him or her recline with just a push of a button.

Power recliners come in three different types. First is the two position chair lift. This type can be moved from a normal position to a 45-degree reclining position and everything in between. The second type is the three position which can also move from an upright position to an almost flat position and to any degree of recline in between. These two types have only one control for the back of the chair and the foot rest. If the back is reclined, the foot-rest will automatically rise as well.

The third type is the infinite position power chair. This one can also achieve an almost flat position like the three position type. The difference is that the control for its back and for its foot rest is separate. The user can recline the chair without the foot support rising as well. This gives the user more flexibility and consequently, more comfort.

There are various manufacturers that offer power lift chairs. One of them is Pride Mobility, which offers four product lines of lift chairs. They include Heritage, Classic, Elegance and Specialty. Another popular name in the lift chair business is Golden Technologies. The firm's line up of chairs include the Value Series, Comforter, Traditional, Signature, MaxiComfort and Golden Designer. Other brands are La-Z Boy, Med-Lift and Maxi-Comfort among others.

When buying a lift chair, the height and weight of the person who will be using it should be taken into consideration. Chairs like these can have a capacity of between 300 lbs. and 600 lbs. Anything higher will be under the Heavy Duty category and is usually more expensive. A power recliner can cost between $300 and over $1,000. They also vary in specs in terms of their height and their seat width. The height can range between five feet-six inches to six feet or over. The width of the seat also varies. The bigger the width and the taller the height, the more expensive the chair will be.

A power lift recliner chair can be used in the living room and serve as a relaxation tool while the owner lounges and watch TV or read. It can also be used for a more functional purpose, like helping handicapped or injured patients to move more easily from a reclining to a sitting position and even to a standing position. Whatever the purpose, it is important to get the specifications right so that the chair can provide the user with maximum comfort and assistance.
