My mind is a whirlwind, my heart torn in two-one minute happy, the next one blue.

Hey, sounds like a poem- a poet maybe? Nah, better not quit my day job.

I think I'll just write a little-never mind rhymes and grammar, just a way to organize my thoughts.

Next Thursday my husband will be leaving for Arizona. He was offered a job a few weeks ago and we have been praying and debating if this was God's answer to prayer. Funny how it works sometimes. I feel like Gideon, we layed out our fleece before God- Lord, if it's your will, make it clear, if nothing comes up here at home, we will know it's your way of providing. Days go by, nothing comes up- Lord, please bring work in, what's going on?

I can almost hear God saying, "Duh, I gave you the answer, what more do you want"? Okay, so maybe God didn't say duh, but I'm pretty sure the answer was clear.

So here we are, preparing for him to leave. We have never been apart longer than 2 weeks-and that didn't work out to well for us being he came home with a TATTOO, not that I have issues with that, all has been forgiven. In fact I have my appointment set for my Budweiser tattoo Friday morning. (Not really, but sounded good.)

I am happy for God's amazing provision. I am excited about the bigger picture. But then it is in my nature to always look at the bigger picture-some accuse me of not living for today, but for me, I can't live for today without it. Especially in this case. Not looking ahead at exciting possibilities would only cause me to look at God and say, why would you take him so far away? Why not give him a job here at home-I don't get you.

But then I am sad because I am going to miss being with him at the end of everyday. It's my comfortable routine and this will not be the case for quite sometime. I don't mean to whine, I know many of you have done this and are doing it know, but it is all new for me.

My son is already stepping up. Art is going over everything and making sure we will be equipped to deal with the uncertainty of winter in Oregon.

To make myself feel better, I have made a list of things I will do to keep busy in the evenings:

1. Catch up on my list of books to read.

2. Dust off the treadmill, put the junk away, stand on it and consider turning it on.

3. Unpack the last of the boxes from our move.

4. Catch up on my list of books to read.

5. Write another Bible study.

6. Stand on the clean treadmill, turn it on, then turn it off.

7. Go out on a date or two with my boyfri-I mean son. (Don't be startin' rumors.)

8. Thank God for my incredible husband for his willingness to provide for his family.

9. Stand on the clean treadmill, turn it on, keep it on and get in great shape for my gorgeous hunk of a construction worker husband.

10. Rejoice in the Lord for His goodness.

Okay, I am done rambling. Thanks for listening and bear with me these next few months as my stories go from happy to sad to joyful.

Teresa grew up in a single-parent home in the rough parts of Los Angeles. She learned early on how to take care of herself...or so she thought. She had "street smarts", but was on a self-destructive path. Even though God knocked on her heart's door at 16, it took years for her to surrender to Him. Since then, her life has never been the same.  She is an encourager, a wife, a mother, and a daughter of the Most High God. She is an author, speaker and teacher. For over 20 yrs, her greatest joy has been leading others closer to Christ by using a practical approach to the study of the Scriptures. hi t,

it's amazing the trials we go through, trying to figure out the best way to handle them. your list sounds great, except the treadmill:) i'd maybe use it for exercise by putting it back in the closet. this will be a difficult time for you and your family, but you will get though it, and you have all of us to hang on to. we're here,

my best,

sue

Hi Teresa.

My husband went and visited relatives in Germany a while back. He was gone for over two weeks and I was so relieved when he got home again. I missed him terribly at every turn.

I will be thinking of you and how it is for you with Art away.

On the flip side, I live in Arizona and love it. We live in Dewey in what's referred to as "north central Arizona," at 5,000 feet of elevation. The summers are relatively mild (relative to Phoenix) and the winters get just enough snow to be fun but not inconvenient. It's not moist or green, though, except for July through September when we have the monsoon rains.

If it is your destiny to move (again...so soon!) to Arizona, I think you might learn to like it.

If you feel the need to "talk," just write to me.

Love,
Dianne

Hi Dianne,  thanks for the support.  I will write you.

Funny thing is, Art and I were considering Arizona before this job offer came up, we knew we would be moving about a year ago, but where was the question.  We have been praying about where for over a year now, so this is a great way for Art to check it out for us and give me his thoughts.

I am also glad that he will working for our very special friend and he will be able to see his mom and my mom on the weekends. The drive is 4 hours from Yuma to our parents' houses.

Lots of positives amidst the sadness.  Our son took the news well, he will not be able to race in the cross-country race this month, it meant a lot to him, but bless his heartm, he took it like the man he is fast becoming.  I always loved the desert growing up, so time will tell.  Thanks again for your friendship!

Love, Teresa

Hi friend,

First of all, I love your new picture - beautiful lady.

Yes, it's hard to do without your hubby, but God will provide for you all.  Arizona is very different from Oregon, but both are beautiful parts of our great country.  How lucky we are to live in America!

In Matthew 6:25 Jesus says,”Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.  Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  ARE YOU NOT MUCH MORE VALUABLE THAN THEY?”  Also,  He said, “I know the plan that I have for you, a plan to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future” Jer 29:11 God has plan. Continue to trust Him and wait to see what He has planned for you.

I love my treadmill and so does our dog, Bingo.  I walk on it for awhile and then he gets on it.  He knows that when his 15 minutes are up, he gets a treat.  In my case, I walk for 30 minutes and skip the treat.  Duh (to use your word), I would have to walk 30 more minutes. : )

You are all - and continue to be in our prayers.  God has your answer, just seek Him out in a quiet place and listen to His still quiet voice.  He can't do His greatest work in your life, if you won't let go.  (A hard learned lesson, that I had to learn - as you know).

Love to you all,
Cathy

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for the kind words about my pic :-)

More importantly, thank you for the encouraging Scriptures!!!

I can just see your dog on the treadmill--how cute.  I do have to say, that I will not be as good as you. I will treat myself with a treat for a job well done. ha!!

...The quiet place.  yes, thank you, i will have many opportunities for that.  Pray Art makes some good friends while he is there.

Love to you guys back! Teresa

Thanks so much Laura, You are on the list for sure--went without saying.  Tell Rob its tough tooties for him for the next few months :-)

I am looking forward to my time with J for sure.  As far as another tattoo--bite your tongue.  Did I tell you that J is getting a tattoo on his 18th b-day? That is why J wants his dad home for that.  Go figure, like father, like son.  He is getting Ortiz written across his back in a form of old english font--his buddy at school is an incredible artist and he designed it.

I might be submitting articles at wierd hours of the morning :-)

Nicely done, Teresa. Leave everything to God for the right answer, but use your God-given energies to get things done while you wait. Thanks for another well-written article about life in the Ortiz household. God Bless.

Lucy, I love this one: Go out on a date or two with my boyfri-I mean son. (Don't be startin' rumors.) ooo-ooh... smile -- I feel for you, especially since Gary and I were separated this year for over 3 months during our transition but I have to say - it was "easier" in some ways because there wasn't as much laundry and Laura and I were satisfied with less "gourmet" meals... We'll be praying for you!

Hello Ethel,  I did have to try and make myself laugh so I wouldn't be too sad :-)

Thanks for the support and I am beginning to see all the good things that will come of it.  Not cooking as much is a great plus.  I appreciate the prayers--I know you understand having recently gone through it.  Love, L
