A truck bed tonneau cover is more than an option for many truck owners.  It's viewed as necessary to secure the cargo plus keep it out of the weather.  What's the best type of cover?  Well, that depends on your budget, your cargo and how you use your truck.

Vinyl roll up covers are popular because of the low price and their convenience.  Just roll the cover forward and haul any load.

Hinged covers look very slick and racy.  When painted to match the rest of the truck, the looks can't be beat.  But they're pricey and you can't haul tall cargo and still shut the lid.

Another great choice is the solid fold tonneau cover.  The Extang Solid Fold Tonneau Cover is one of the best examples.  The cover is built from aircraft grade aluminum with a high strength honeycomb core.  The weight of the cover is only 50 pounds so it's light enough for anyone to handle.

The top folds in three sections.  To open the cover simply open the tailgate, pull the spring-loaded SpeedKlamps and fold back.  That's it.  The sections fasten together and the clamps nest within the cover sections.

Installs faster than any other hard cover and requires no tools.  The cover clamps in place and can be installed by one person.  Your cover is custom made to fit your truck.  Will fit spray on bed liners and other bed liners that fit under the bed sides.  It will not fit drop in bed liners that fit up over the bed sides unless the bed liner is notched for clearance.

A folding solid truck bed tonneau cover is a great choice.  These covers have many advantages of a retractable bed liner, but at less cost and are easier to install.  They cost more than a vinyl bed liner, but are more secure and still just as easy for using to haul any size cargo.
