There is so much that I could say about my experience of being Born Again, that I can only tell my tale in spurts. The significant change in my life that has occurred ( and is occurring ) is so tremendous that I can only say that because of this, I can no longer refute the Truth of it. Being Born Again is similar to the literal process of being born; and after one is born one slowly learns to hold up their head, and then to crawl, and then to walk. This is also true of our ability to digest - you first drink of your mother's milk, and then move on to thicker liquids, and then on to solid foods. So as it is with being Born Again.

My ideologies have changed so much in only a few weeks. Comments and articles that I had written not but two weeks ago, have now fallen away from me just as dead branches get carried away by the current in a river. I owe this to my studying of the Word in the Bible. Sometimes I even think that the Holy Spirit is the Bible.

I used to judge fundamentalist Christians as "loonies" who all interpret the Bible literally. But what does this mean exactly? How could I have said this when I had not even read nor studied the Bible myself? I think that I am not alone in this and I am sure that at least 98% of those who say these things have also never studied the Bible, nor have they given Christians the opportunity to explain what it is that they believe to be the Truth. The answer is that true Christians behold the Bible to be the Truth, and why shouldn't they? I dare anyone to come forth with absolute proof that reveals the Bible to be untrue. You would think that after 2,000 or so years, if it were not true, that humans would have the proof to negate it. But the truth is that we do not, but to the contrary.

Some of my old friends ( including my left wing ex psychotherapist ) use the unfortunate, hateful rants of false Christians as proof of some hypocrisy of Christianity. Meanwhile, they ignore all of the beautiful, intelligent writings and ideologies upheld by true Christians such as C.S. Lewis, for example. Believe me, I know, I used to be one of them. No one can deny the Truth that is revealed in the Bible ( which is God's Word ), however these words can be complicated. As in Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. It is not our moral superiority but God's.

Hi Jennifer, wonderfully stated. And I must say, one of the bravest things a new believer can do and I commend you for this. It is one of the many evidences of true conversion. I am blessed to be a little part of the process.

You may not have even be aware of this but you gave a wonderful explanation of Hebrews 5:11-14. I will let you look it up :-)

Talk to you tonight.

Jennifer, I had not read any of your work, but had noticed in passing your name on columns I've read. I decided to read something by you, and this link came up. How wonderful! Beyond that, words seem very inadequate to express the joy, thankfulness, blessings to you and many things I wish to convey as a fellow traveler in God's Territory. Thank you for writing this!
